I don't get it.
While I admire the engineering, and can understand wanting a unique bike, why take something that handles well and turn it into an unwieldy piece of crap?

I guess though that these bikes may have started as wrecks, so mebbe that's OK.

Wrecks.... I freaking hope so!!!

And there's no chance that the original owner's ever going to get back on that bike, if I build it!!! (I don't fix stuff to be stuffed again!!!)

It's like giving Scarlett Johanson braces and a breast reduction........it just isn't right!

mmm I think this is the wrong way round. Try 'it's like taking the braces and breast reduction off Scarlett Johanson' :gob:

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Just because the factory made it this way doesn't mean that it has to stay this way, or that they are right. It's just different.

She'd still be hot, I wouldn't turn her down.

At least if you put a Ducati motor and brakes in a chopper it'd go and stop, which is more than you could say for some of the custom choppers I've seen. The OCC bikes don't look like they'd stop at all haha

They had this guy on one of the Motorcycle Mania programs a couple years ago. The Show was following Jesse JAmes (this is what gave him his big break for fame) as he was building a bike and then this guy (the builder/owner of 13 choppers) came on to ride with Jesse up to Sturgis.

He got a small bit on the show saying that he uses sportbikes for choppers so that he would have something with atleast ome handeling so he wouldn't scrape the whole side of his bike up.

Think he later showed up for a couple episodes of Monstar Garage aswell.

there are a few about

the one I personally liked the look of was http://twistingasphalt.com/index.php/archives/2006/03/31/another-ducati-chopper/

I appreciate the sports bike, but if you total it and can't get it re-certed (like a workmate just did with his 900SS) this may just be the thing to do.

Yeah, well, it doesn't do it for me sorry.

The Honda-commissioned VTX Cafe Racer (http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2006/08/24/jesse-james-honda-vtx-cafe-racer/) Jess James built is still, for me, the pinnacle of a chopped bike.

Its turned a strong cruiser motor into a pretty decent looking sprotsbike, and its beautiful as well.

And check out that rear brake rotor. Just mad...

Only my opinion....but 'choppers' as well all know are mostly built to look at, and the Ducati motor while a good motor, is hardly pleasing to the eye.

Hence most 'builders' use a Harley, or Harley derived motor....the 45 deg twin is a nice looking power unit.....as is the big Honda motor shown here.....90 deg twins are not really pretty....

Bloody awesome. Most people dont realise how much work goes into thinking up
some thing like that let alone building one.
