As part of Frosty's thread about doing something positive I wrote to Taupo race track expressing concern about track safety there.
Good for them they have responded with this positive letter. (Attached)
I will be following up soon and will post my response.

Good response... Hope they back it up with action. ATM I'm collecting plastic milk bottles for Frosty.

Good one. Most people like myself just talk about their concerns. Good to see someone actually taking action and putting it into writing.

Just a suggestion... if you don't want everyone knowing where you live, you might want to remove your address from the attached letter :dodge:

Good to see positive action by KBers ( instead of griping) got a positive response.
Is sliding under these barriers a problem ???
If so should we raise this issue & and / or suggest any solutions ???

Dear Jacki
Thank you for your letter dated 27 December. (Copy attached)

I am very happy to receive your letter and encouraged by the comments.

Thanks for that. I have posted your response on the Kiwibiker website (that many racers belong to) and the responses from them have been positive too.

Just to add. On December 31st I raced at the Taupo Spectacular organized by the NZ Sidecar Association. It used the new half section. Since I had last raced there a large tyre wall has since been placed at the entrance to the chicane. Many racers I spoke to also found this to be very dangerous. It is a fast left hand corner before that and you are entering the chicane braking hard at high speed and the tyre wall is directly in front of you. We hope that this issue can also be resolved in the near future.

Which corners are you referring to?

I thought Frosty was most concerned about the entrance to the new front straight T17 in the attached pdf

Yes. That was my FIRST letter to Taupo, which they responded to (attached in top post).
In the Frosty thread I did post my first letter to Taupo track.

To Whom It May Concern:
First of all as a motorcycle racer I have to say I love the new and extended Taupo circuit.
It is a great track and I look forward to racing there as often as I can.

However recently a number of racers that I know have been expressing concern about the left hand corner that comes onto the new front straight.

The general feeling is that it is potentially a dangerous corner for motorcyclists with the concrete wall being quite close to the exit of the corner. In particular should a rider high side on the way out.

Motorcycle racers are always concerned about sections of a track that are unnecessarily dangerous. In particular the topic is hot after the latest AMCC round at Pukekohe where once again another rider (my team mate as it happened) crashed badly on one of Pukekohe's more dangerous corners. He is now paralysed below the waist.

A Taupo track safety debate is currently underway on the Kiwibiker website. A forum that many racers from around the country use, including novice racers up to national champions. Amongst us we are looking to get plastic bottle crash bags made up and placed along that particular section of the corner every time there is a bike meeting using the newer section of the track.

However I also feel that as a motorcycle racer I should let you know, if you haven't been made aware already, that there is some concern about this particular corner amongst us.

If there is already an awareness of this issue and possible solutions being discussed then I look forward to hearing back from you about it.

ahhh I see what you mean if you think Taupo track actually responded about a different corner.

Yeah thats what I thought you meant, what confused me was their response to you, in your the first post, where they referred to the "...left hand corner, coming onto the back straight"

Good work.
