I have just saved enough cash to by a bike, its been several years since I had my zzr 250 and now I am keen to grab a 6oo and get into some riding again.
Has anyone got any advice as to a good bike? I'm keen to have somthimg to "grow into" I figure that controling my right hand should keep me safe till I get some skills. Cheers for your coments!:doctor:

Firstly, welcome to KB:scooter:

How did you find the ZZR? and what style of bike is your preference?
What do you want to do with your riding?
What sort of budget...

A Bandit 600 might be a good start, easy touring, not as much power as some sports bike but reasonably forgiving to ride.

Thanks for the welcome!
The zzr was fine, good fun going round the bends but a killer on the long runs ( I had it in Oz 10 years ago). I would like a sport bike, it will be mostly a toy but also my only transport. I wanna be fast some day so something with potential (and a fairing). that way I can perhaps go get some tuition and let things progress from there. as a skydive instructor I am always telling my students to first master the skills then add speed, I hope self control will allow me to do that on a fastish bike, or am I hoplessly out of touch and about to throttle jocky my way into gravel rash history??:scooter: PS budgets not too musch of a problem I'm thinking near new

Welcome to the house.

ZZR400 or ZZR600, could go for an F1 (1995), 2 or 3 ZX6R or similar (you know - those other makes). They are 'sporty' but not too powerful compared to current bikes.

Welcome - I am also new to KB and relatively new again to bikes (used to ride years ago, now reached my mid life thrill age.
I ride a Suzuki SV650S can tell you it's brilliant. mind you there are so many brilliant bikes and I guess as long as it's in good nick and you ride sensibly any bike will do - mid size bikes are great and more than sufficient.

Enjoy

maybe a gsr600k6.

Good choice too - Also worth looking at is the 2007 Kawasaki ER6N (or the sports fully faired version)

have been meaning too - I think I will - though I must say it will be hard giving up my SV650s as I really love it. however I do not really like the new SV style - too angular for me.:innocent:

The Money is fairly flexable I am after somthing reliableish so not too old, new wouldn't be out of the question but after saving so hard I don't wana blow ALL the morgage money in one go (Free Single No kids show me the HP forms and stand back!:whocares: )

Sounds sensible. But hey I have never been sensible. Good luck choosing a bike. I love bike shopping.

Welcome! I always reckoned the CBR600F4 had to be one of the best! Not as focussed as later models but more comfortable and plenty quick!

The ZX6R was also a great allrounder. Both more sporty than the Bandits and GSX-F's though I do love my bike as pretty quick and comfortable.

I have to add my recommendation for the Honda CBR600F (not the RR models) if you want both a bloody good sports bike as well as a bike you can ride all day and not have sore back/hands/arms/shoulders.

I did a lot of research too and talked to a lot of people and the concensus seemed to be that the CBR is one of "those" bikes - that do everything so well, they're not exciting enough for the boyz. It always wakes them up though when you get to a track day and an old bike ridden by an old fart is too fast to keep up with :)
