Will be catching a plane to pike up my bike sooner or later - I've figured out the whole online booking system but not sure about what i do when i get the to airport (never flowen before).
im guessing i have to go sign in/get my ticket then jump on the plane?
also what about my gear? im guessing i just wear my bike boots and put my leathers, helmet and wet weather gear into a backpack that i carry on with me? (my gear will be under the 20kg limit right?!)
need help!

go to the counter with your driving lisense as proof of who you are.
go get coffee and wait
get on the plane with all your gear and put it in the over head locker
sit n wait.
easy.

Yes.
No. The limit for carry-on luggage is 7kg; 20kg is the limit for checked luggage.

Get off at the other end. And leave the plane.

Stand at the runway with a really big net.
Get to the airport with plenty of time to spare so you don't panic. I think domestic is 1/2 hour prior to flight, make it 1 hr.
Take your ticket (print out the confirmation) and some photo ID. No ID no fly.
20kg limit is for stowed luggage, and your gear will be less than that. You can carry on a "normal" sized carry bag into the cabin. Put your gears into a bag for checkin. Take your helmet onboard with you and a small bag if you need other stuff.
Don't carry any knives, gas bottles, fireworks, guns, drugs etc onto the plane.
Piece of piss, you'll be right, ask the staff if you need help.
[Edit:] What they said.

Normally you have to goto the airline stand, for the one your flying with. It should be near check-in. there you tell them your flight details, ur details, You have a reference number etc.
they pass you your ticket and you check-in like normal

Try and get one before it takes off - they're harder to catch when flying

Ride your bike all the way in to the check-in counter. Your bike will be stored in the overhead area during the flight, and you can ride it off of the aircraft upon landing. It is common practice to unbuckle your seatbelt and stand up in the aisle of the aircraft the very instant the wheels touch the tarmac.

... don't listen to Swoop
if you want to ride your bike off the aircraft you have to wait until all other passengers have disembarked [deplaned?] before unbuckling your seatbelt and standing up

Get your mum to drop you off, and a she can arrange with the airline that you are looked after. We do that with our children all the time, although they're a bit younger.

Its also general courtsey to give the pilot's landing a rating out of 10 after the flight. More points for bounces and if the overhead lockers come unlatched.

Just go to express check in and insert your airpoints or credit card. your details come up. pick a seat if you dont like the one they gave you (possibly baggage compartment for you??!!) hand in ya check-in baggage and go through to your gate/security checks once you have eaten "one of each please" at McDonalds.

If you're taking your riding gear with you, make sure to wear it on the plane. It could save your life in the you happen to crash.

don't try this unless you get a sex change first,
but this one time (on my way to b a n d c a m p) i took a set of tyres with me on the plane from aucks to wellys, they were really nice and put them in a bag for me too.
ive taken my gear a few times, no one weighs it, but it was a snug fit getting my helmet into the over head compartment. from memory i had a helmet, a bag with my boots, my leathers slung over my shoulder and a school bag of crap, so you should be sweet, no guarantees since you are a guy :P
my experiences domestic out of aucks are limited to wellington and palmerston north, but wen you go to wellys they xray your stuff and you, but not wen you go to palmy, so you can take drugs with you if it is palmy cos its just a baby plane (wellys = jet)

lol the airport here doesn't even have anyone watching the doors. Watch a pilot pull his plane in next to the door. Put block in front of his tyres and left the engine running while he ran insode to the toilet.
I'm used to having to show up at the airport 2 hours before my flight just to make it through security on time.
