Would you hire my bikes?

I have a dilemma, I keep seeing all of these bikes that I like, but I can't justify having anymore than the one that I have know.

I'm wondering whether it would be viable to hire out the bikes if I were to buy them.

The bikes that I have seen are a ZZR600 and a ZX9R (both bikes are early nineties) and in great condition comestically and mechanically.

So what do you think, would you, or do you have friends that would be keen to dry hire a bike for some weekend fun.

I was thinking say

$150 for the weekend for the ZX9
and
$120 for the ZZR600???

So come on guys give me some feedback, is it a good idea or bad???

Insurance alone would kill you.

Too risky to hire out a personal vehicle. Too many liabilities. If you find someone nice enough to loan you a bike for the weekend for nothing or exchange of piss, thats ok. But once money changes hands, there are some important things to consider

You're way too cheap.

Say a $20,000 bike, plus insurance say at $2,000 is $22,000.

Say you were to finance this over three years at 15%, that's $3,300 interest, plus $7,333 capital repayments a year is $10,633.

Say you were to hire it once a week (on average), that's $204 a hire just to break even.

Put your daily rate up to $175, and stock bikes that people (i.e. tourists) want to hire and you may be onto something, noting that this would be a seasonal business and all bikes would need to be fully serviced each time they came back in.

I can't see you getting rich.

if they are insured and someone writes them off at least you can get some suzukis.

If I hire your bikes are you ok for me to thrash the living crap outa them, riding badly, clutchless shifting, over-revving them to hell, spilling shit all over them when I stop and buy takeaways, and let my mates have a go (even though they haven't ridden before)??
Think of the worst possible thing that someone could do to your bike (unintentionally of course) and that's what you risk someone doing to them if you hire them out - not taking into account all the legal shit and stuff 'they' were saying...

Well, at least there are some advantages to running a business. You can claim GST back on the purchases and depreciate the bikes value and offset other business costs (e.g. advertising, strippers, inviting me to your 'business conferences' in Fiji) against any revenue gained from the hire fee income. Set it up so you can get a deduction against your personal taxes for any trading losses. You can also set up and asset owning company and lease it to the other company that does the hire trading.

If you're thinking of using the profit you earn (after insurance, depreciation, servicing etc) from hiring out your machines is going to pay for them - No, most definitely not.

As a 'little earner' though....illegal perhaps....
