View Full Version : Bay of Plenty: Couples ride
Unit

Well I mentioned this a while back that I wanted to organise a couples ride. The main purpose is to encourage couples to spend some quality time together, and to give those single riders who have a musses at home (either gender) who are often reluctant to go on rides cause they think its only the boys etc an excuse to get their partners to join in. No matter if you are on separate bikes or pillion, the emphysis is on getting ya partners out there too. If your a single person try to find someone you can chuck on the back and open them to the world of motorcycling.
So Im open to suggestions of dates, and where to go. Will be a good excuse for us to start learning some of the roads to ride down here also.
It will have to be February as we are all booked up for January, but not the 18th cause of Paeroa.

How may pair? Do they come with tyres also? Cause I calculate at least 6 pairs of boots a year, depending on how many track days, and Im still waiting for the 12 month to tick around on the zx to know for sure number of tyres a year.
Anyway, thanks for the offer will take you up on that, and now there be four:scooter:

Everyone wants a piece of my ass.. it's understandable. Unfortunately i'm

Looks like things are shaping up for the first weekend in February, unless Ive missed something, but my social organiser (DMNTD) advises me we are free so far that weekend. There seems to be some good roads right on our doorstep we are discovering back roads through to Rotorua/Taupo etc. Will start planning at complusory Tga Thursday night this week. Besides, its a good chance to spend some quality cuddle time with ya loved one.

No problem, Im not one to exclude anyone from a ride unless they are being a real dickhead and putting others at risk. If ya sons keen bring him along, we will probably have DMNTDs daughter with us anyway, so there be three of us, its all good:scooter:

Great suggestion, I love watching any bike on a track (gees that leave me open:sick: ). Seeing as 3RD FEBRUARY TO TAUPO TRACK has been the only suggestion so far then thats what we will look forward to. Bare with me folks this is actually the first ride Ive ever organised, my social manager is taking time out right now:sleep:

So who's still on for a wee ride on the 3rd or 4th Feb?
Route wise, how about meet up at the Funky Lizard cafe at Paengaroa, cruise along the coast to Matata, then back to Vegas over the Rotomas, A beer/coffee @ the Okere store then the Tga crew can go back via the main rd or the back of the lake & the Tga direct road?
Cheers

I didnt realise when I set the date but sounds like the Westpac Bike run is on that day and is very popular. It I dont get enough interest for Sunday 11th then we will look to pushing this out until March. Will give it a few more days then put up a poll for some alternate dates. I'll look at making the ride on the other side of our hill (Kaimai's) so the ride will be more central to Akld, Hamilton, West Coast crews. Did an awesome ride yesterday c/- Jimbo down around Rotorua/Taupo/Cambridge way which was surprisingly close to Tauranga. This is a great area to explore and the traffic is light in a lot of the roads we took, yet they were great roads in good condition.

Good suggestion my flying friend. Guess it wouldnt take us that long to get over that way. Chris is also very keen to ride up around Turangi and up the mountain to Whakapapa, so there's another option too. Central or West of the centre of the North Island should definately appeal to more people, and hey, travelling seems to be no problem for the Towelronga crew

Well I thought we would just keep changing our minds to keep the thread going. The route will be good there are lots of choices and will make sure it is central to as many as possible, the date is a bit unknown as I really should have DMNTD along, seeing as its a couples ride and he's a bit broke right now, so looking to March definately will try to suss out a route in next few days but it tends to change a bit everytime I get out in the district and find new and exciting tracks to ride, this area is definately a well kept secret
