Hey guys
This is my first post :P
After 3 or 4 years of not having a bike, im selling my car to get one again.
Im looking at either a CBR250RR or a ZXR250
I know this has probably been done the death, but just wondering on peoples opinions on both of these bikes and basically which one to get, pros and cons :)
Cheers

Welcome aboard HMS Madhouse.
A few basic rules.... Leave the rum alone and don't feed the animals.
I think that just about covers it......
Good luck with the bike purchase. I'm sure you are about to get a broadside of info from the various motley crew on here.

agreed on all points.
i've written thousands of posts on this matter before so do a search zxr cbr or something for more crap.
zxr250 is slightly less reliable due to cam chain and usd forks... if you get pitted/rusted forks or let them get dirty (wipe all the way around them after rain/dusty crap on them) they can pop a fork seal. i have never popped one in 35k+ riding cus i looked after them. cam chains go about 35-40k and are $250-500 to replace depending on where you go. get it tuned up nice and it'll run well. zxr250 is more of a sharper/animal bike as such when compared to cbr 250 with better top end and low end. cbr has it on mid range though and is more reliable. zxr250c (91 onwards singe headlight) has pretty much same shocks as the zxr400sp with adjustable compression rebound spring preload and whatever the other one is called (tension or somethin can't remember at the moment). if you set up the shocks well you'll have a sharp as a tack bike which can make most people worried int he corners. if you commute more go cbr if you weekend ride and commute a little bit go zxr.. zxr is better looking imo and most people agree :) and it don't have the faggy cam gear sound like the cbr (argh!!!!!) 1993 models and onwards were restricted to 45ps at the crank. they all rev out to 19k indicated real crank speed is 17500.

Hey there bonus, greetings and salutations! Welcome to the world of two wheels of freedom - once you're on, you'll wonder why you didn't start earlier!
So, going the faired bike huh? Lemme put in my two beans as a Hornet rider - go the Hornet! :woohoo: If'n you change your mind about going naked, there'll be the usual pundits giving you the good oil! :innocent:
Anyhow, have fun shopping and don't forget to get good gear! You'll never hear the end of it if you don't! :scooter:

Finn is selling his CBR 1000RR he has recommended it as a great first bike and in awesome condition. If you mention this site you might get a great deal. He"s had a bit of a shock recently and may be open to lower offers.

Both bikes are nice, pretty quick too, make sure you get a pre purchase inspection done before your buy one though.

honestly, if I were to buy another <250cc, I would look at a new Aprillia RS125. yes, I know how much they cost, but there will be no better teacher of how to corner fast and safely than that. probabley has as much straight line grunt as a cbr250, zxr but difference is in the superior corning and breaking. buy one on finance if you have to, just buy one.

Leave the rum alone
oh shit, now you tell me. while I was away for new years me and a mate got on the rum a couple of nights in a row, first night he woke up on the rocks down by the beach and 2nd night I woke up in a ditch.. no wonder the pirates went so crazy..
Honda's are for FAGS
Suzuki's are for girls
haha, so what does that make me? a lesbian? sweet! I can deal with that.
