The full licence test is really only an extended version of the Restricted. And if I can pass it first time than anyone can! Its easy peasy. Just take it gently and remember to look around lots so that the tester can see your helmet move. Just relax and go for it. You'll be sweet!

Honestly, relax! Do you have a full cage licence? I dont even have a Learners cage licence and I was sweet. But if your really worried read through the road code a bit...
I just had someone follow me, I had to watch in my mirrors and turn when the tester indicated...
He followed me around 50k and 70kph areas. Then we went somewhere and he got me to ride up and down a road and then name all the "dangers"...
Then I had to do a couple of figure 8's two different ways and then he followed me again and we went back to the testing office where he gave me my licence. He advised me that I was to far to trhe right of my lane and that my helmet didnt move around enough so he had assumed that I wasnt looking. I was looking with my eyes and he believed me. I just told him that the wind was blowing me to the right of the lane (it wasnt really).

Ive seen it suggested that you put a sticker on back of helmet, so it is easy to see it moving side to side when you look.

Remember when doing the moving hazards .. the vehicle behind you (wiuth the guy in it) is a hazard!
Other than that it is a quick ride and you will be fine.

Go in to the place that you are going to do the test and ask for directions.
Most places will tell you the general area and or the normal route.
The actual route is sometimes modified on short notice because of roadworks traffic etc but if you get down there and do a couple of laps of the proposed routes you will feel far more confident and will be more aware of any odd signs or out of place warnings.
Also less distracting if you are not passing things you have never seen.
Be aware of any one ways in the area. If I had blindly followed the instructions of my assessor I would have gone the wrong way down a one way.

Keep your clutch lever covered at all times. And exaggerate your head movement when checking your mirrors. Remember also to indicate in and out of roundabouts and obey the road rules at all times.

got my full licence this morning (actually a temporary 1) thanks for the helpful tips.
The first part took like 5mins, instructor said i pass without any comments and moved on the 2nd part.
Did a u turn on part 2, and a bit of ridding around unmarke road, tight corners, turning up hills. The instructor commented that i move the bike left/right too much, sure keep my bike on the right hand side of the road always, i reply saying that i need to move left/right to give me more room to turn and get a better view of whats ahead of me. he said just to stick to the right hand side.
so for part 3, i stayed on the right throught out the entire test, did some high speed ridding, 80-90km max. got back to the test station, he said i over-doing my head checks. how should i know how much is enought to you, i better to do too much than fail on not enought checking. any how i got my licence, gonna look around for a bigger bike....
..
did'nt get ask about any hazard or any thing..

Yeah, good one kev. Your experience was similar to mine whenI sat my Full test - the examiner asked no questions re hazards observed etc. Biggest hazard was having to worry about how far behind the tester was getting...
Take care. Enjoy your riding. You have some awesome roads and scenery at your disposal in Southland. Enjoy!

Congrats there Kev.
Your assessor sounds like a bit of a twit to me.
I don't believe there is such a thing of moving the bike from side to side too much.
You see it is easier for the human eye to pick up movement rather than something that is still.
If you are traveling down the road in a straight line toward a car, they will not notice you anywhere near as much as if you were weaving down the road.
They might think "That guy is all over the place", but at least they have noticed you!

Well done, take your time with getting the bigger bike and get to know your own limits, we all want you to be around for a long time, and practise is the best thing for that, if possible see if you can hook up with a mentor.:scooter:
