I note there's a growing number of posts re' mufty cop car colours, locations, specs, regos etc on here of late.
So what say the masses re' having a dedicated section on here allowing us to post intel on these dirty war wagers?
Spank?
Moddies?

Why not start a thread that we can sticky... then anyone who notices the bots in blue (or not when they are under cover) can post in that thread...
No need for a new sub-forum IMO.

I think its a good idea if people can be bothered remembers car makes, models, colours and number plates...
Just a random question... is there any legalities to this? Posting detailed police information?

I would doubt it.

What a waste of time. I can't even remember the rego for my bike, let alone those of every late-model blue Honda Accord that the Police may have sequestered for mufti duty. So what if there's a Police silver Mitsi Diamante at Birkdale today? It'll probably be in Tauranga next week.

That would distribute the information across hundreds of posts, rendering it largely useless, unless the person starting the thread continually updated the first post each time information was added.

I would have thought that the information that is current and people don't clutter the thread with discussion, i.e just the current situation on the road only, would make it easy for people as they could go to the end of the thread and see what has been posted for that day... because cops move around anyway, so its never constant.
In a way I agree with Hitch, but am willing to test the theory,

I would doubt it.
If asked nicely, the Cops may even supply and update a definitive list, for all the use it would be.

Perhaps more useful might be a thread on "where they lurk". As we all know, the bastidges have their favourite spots where they lurk in wait. Regulars find out (maybe the hard way) but vistors don't know.
Also, whilst noting every mufti around might be overly detailed (who could remember it all!), sometimes a specific mufti will have a "blitz" over a prolonged period in an area (eg the guy who was targeting Woodcocks Rd a while ago). It would be worth having a "Hot Alert" for such cases.

What a waste of time. I can't even remember the rego for my bike....
I'd suggest that some of the younger members are yet to experience the scourge of memory loss more 'senior' members may experience. I generally only remember the firt 3 digits of each mufty rego I notice (for a short while). So I guess I'm on my way to having a 'senior' memory.
Muftywarningthreadtypepostypesections exist on several other forums I sometimes visit - and it's been a great success to date - with members regularly posting new info and other members thanking the site for saving them muchos spondoolos in speedtax.
Joni - Shall I start a new thread and you'll sticky it? If so which section shall I post it under?

Can't agree with you there mate......any tipoff no matter how small or seemingly useless about new muftis floating round is a help IMO

I have this insane ability to remember numberplates. Its weird, I never thought that it could be useful!...
In saying that, if a mufti cops sitting a hundy+ metres up the road I doubt you'lll see the plat until its too late?

Biff yeah start a thread in Biker Politics and Law. I will sticky it... If for some reason there are negative implications (i.e legal) I will reconsider things.
I will pop a note that it should stay on topic.

I would agree with Ixion... I would have said thats a better idea. Considering the sheer fact that they lurk, any decent speed, and you wouldn't have a chance to get close, ID the car, then make a decision, before you get busted. Even at 100, there can be zero warning.
Therefore, knowing the cunning spots, would mean you behave in certain areas. Only problem with that is that if the ecilop read it, they realise they have been noted, and might move on, making the potential number of spots insane.
its almost like they are trying to make us behave all the time... but err... we already do :innocent:

OK then. Here's a good one. Watch out for HP officers driving around or parked up in late model unmarked sedans. These vehicles generally have more than one external aerial, and funny blue and red lights on the rear parcel tray, the centre of the front dashboard and concealed in the grille. Also watch out for the white radar sensing units (about the size of a tennis ball) also inside the front and rear windows. The driver will be wearing a blue shirt with epaulettes, and sometimes a hat.

Roger that.
But at the same time.....if you'd said something like.....saw a new (to the area) dark blue Commodore......it'd maybe save me a ticket if at a quick glance I saw one.....but I'm not quite as quick or clever as you obviously are Hitcher, as I can't often take in all the other bits in a split sec.

I would doubt it......I'll email a lawyer friend of mine and ask the question.
Can't see why you can't openly say "hey....saw a new to the area mufti car today...." if it's ok for them to hide in one in the name of 'road safety'....I'm sure in the name of saving lives we can say that we saw them doing a splendid job....

Ah well guys... this morning I have had to move 5 posts from the thread to PD.
Even when some members have expressed a serious interest in something, others will always have to f*** it up, they cant help themselves.
I dont have the time to patrol one thread. Hopefully people let the rubbish go now, but I wont hold my breathe.

My mistake Hitcher......I thought after your earlier post saying this idea was a 'waste of time'.....that your useful information smelt remarkably like sarcasm.

Well... LMFAO, heres a novel idea... do the speed limit ride only if you have a licence ride a 250 only if thats what you are restisted to, have a up to date WOF and REG... and then you wont need to worry about this silly bloody thread.
Having said that I have been guilty of some of the above... I know the penalitys so if a mufty picks me up... then I cant bitch now aye :scooter:

Came up to a roundabout today and saw two Holden Commodores; one in the left lane, one in the right. I thought that is rather suspicious, having two late model cars, virtually identical apart from the colour, sitting side-by-side at a roundabout...
Sure enough, my suspicions served me well. One went straight and one went left, as did I. About 300m up the road, the Holden pulls to the left, flicks on his lights and u-turns, pulling up a car going the other way.
I laughed. Although the u-turn manouveur (sp?) was rather dangerous, as I was closing in pretty fast (100k in 100km area), but oh well.
