Well, had a bushfire 400m up the road yeasterday. They're everywhere too. To get an idea of how bad the bushfires are, here's a link to the current bushfires in NSW:

The one up the road is the Lake Macquarie one, which was only 48 Hectares, or 119 Acres.

Bugger that.
Not sure if you're aware of this or not, but Aussie bush fires occasionally put out enough smoke for it to affect us in NZ. The sky gets hazy and the light goes very slightly redder. It makes the sunsets pretty stunning though

Luckily for me it seems you've saved the worst for once I managed to get home to NZ. Hope you don't have any hassles from them.

Had a look at the one up the road today. it's still smouldering and man, never seen anything like it. Looks like a landscape from DooM. Nothing but black trees and grey ash everywhere, and the ground is charcoal. It was interesting to see shitloads melted of car tyre rims strewn about. No wonder the fires burn black, and so fierce.
