View Full Version : Honk if you love Jesus!

The other day I went up to a local Christian bookstore and saw a "Honk if you love Jesus" bumper sticker. I was feeling particularly sassy that day, because I had just come from a thrilling choir practice followed by a powerful prayer meeting, so I bought the sticker and put it on my bumper. I was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection just lost in thought about the Lord and how good He is, and I didn't notice that the light had changed.

It is a good thing someone else loves Jesus; because if he hadn't honked, I'd never have noticed. I found that LOTS of people love Jesus. Why, while I was sitting there, the nice man behind started honking like crazy, and he leaned out of his window and screamed, "for the love of God, GO! GO!" What an exuberant cheerleader he was for the Lord.

Everyone started honking! I just leaned out of my window and started waving and smiling at all these loving people. I even honked my horn a few times to share in the love. There must have been a man from Florida back there, because I heard him yelling something about a sunny beach. I saw another man waving in a funny way with only his middle finger stuck up in the air. When I asked my teenage grandson in the back seat what that meant, he said that it was a Hawaiian good luck sign or something. Well, I've never met anyone from Hawaii, so I leaned out the window and gave him the good luck sign back. My grandson burst out laughing; why even he was enjoying this religious experience.

A couple of the people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that they got out of their cars and started walking towards me. I bet they wanted to pray or ask what church I attended, but this is when I noticed the light had changed. So I waved to all my sisters and brothers, smiled at them all, and drove on through the intersection. I noticed I was the only car that got through the intersection before the light changed again, and I felt kind of sad that I had to leave them after all the love we had shared, so I slowed the car down, leaned out of the window, and gave them all the Hawaiian good luck sign one last time as I drove away.

Praise the Lord for such wonderful folks!

It must be great to love the lord so much, and with so much loving around life must be amazing. Hail to you and long may it last (provided I don't have to be in the same queue behind you).

Must confess (good for the soul...) that it wasn't ME this happened to, but, of course, a very good friend of mine!

Have you noticed that most drivers with a ONE WAY JESUS sticker on their cars drive like they know the way and are in a hurry to get there?

Excellent!!

Reminds me of the person who was driving erratically down the road speeding and showing road rage tendencies when a cop pulled her over, approaching with a gun in his hand he shouted - 'Get out the car and put your hands over your head' - terrified she got out and handed him her car licence. The cop then apologised and said "Oh its your car.....I saw the fish on the back and figured the car must have been stolen as you were driving like a demon!"

My Grandmother was a Nun and when I was a wee lad she was driving me to school one day when she stalled at the lights. This guy behind us went absolutely nuts - tooting and screaming. I could see my Nan was really upset but because of her faith she remained calm. I said to her, "Hey Nan, why don't you show him your Cross? She wound down the window as said "Shove it up your arse motherfucker!" :gob:

I bought this card once that had this old lady on the front, clutching a bible, and the words "Jesus loves you". On the inside it had "but the rest of us think you're a real arsehole!" - I saved it for years before finding the perfect person to send it to, my brother!

Your irreverance is wonderful, made my evening, and yes I'd like a copy of that card for my brother..we could probably send it backward and forwards to each other for years... :ride:

reminds me of last night on Te Rapa, there was a guy in a red ute with a coffin in the back of the ute with big black and white signs saying "Your sin will kill you". No matter how much we provoked him, he wouldn't do a burnout... :(
