Digital Rights Management (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Rights_Management), a way to stop you buying a song online, then dishing it out to all your buddies for free..

of course, there's always very easy ways round all this, just be better if it wasn't there to start with, but what can ya do..

A pain in the ass and what ^^^^^ he wrote.

On a similar topic. Window's activation falls in the same bucket ... what happens when the PC answering the activation request doesn't answer any more in 5yrs time? MS can then control when new installations of XP can be halted ...
