View Full Version : Pre-empting my mid-life crisis

I decided to preempt my midlife crisis and get another bike before I lost all control and ended up with a Harley. So now I have a vfr 800, something semi sensible in deference to my much abused knees.

I was heavily into motorbikes for the late 80's and early 90's but I gave it away for a while after I wrote off my rx7 and had a brief bout of sensibility. 10ish years later, the house is nearly paid off, so I got in quick before my wife started on renovations...

I have been lurking in the forums for a while, but I s'pose it is time to be a bit more vocal. There a are a few familiar figures here from my younger days so I feel in good company.

Welcome to the site MrX. From your description of yourself I was imagining someone a lot older than you look in the photo!

Very nice "sensible" bike! Good to see you're dealing with any thoughts of a crisis by buying toys :scooter:

Watch out tho, I rode from Auck to Tokoroa when i got my MLCrisis ride with a bloody sign my mates stuck to my number plate .
It said 'Waring mid life crisis in progress.'
Enjoy your ride.

Nice ride. A much safer way to get through your midlife crisis than your 18 year old babysitter.

Point of clarification: A motorcycle is a mid-life enhancement.

That bike looks awesome. I've always liked the look of the VFR. How is it going so far?

Pretty sweet. I have only done 400k since Sat but it is faster and better handling than I am ready for. It makes the 20k commute to work much more fun.

Nice :) I have read a few people have issues with the V-Tec engine (if I recall correctly) and its uneven power delivery. I suppose 400kms isn't enough to tell but have you noticed this being an issue at all?

Not really an issue at the moment. The main thing I notice is the change in the noise. I think it is more of an issue if you just creep up to 7000 slowly.

Hi, Sean! :wavey:

Yeah, I'm on here too - you can't get away from me (cue rabid hordes screaming "He's everywhere! HE'S EVERYWHERE!!)

I'm sure you'll enjoy KB. Just ignore the 'tards.
