Yesterday turned into the longest ride on record for at 50 bikers or so who were stranded in Featherston in the the Wairapara when a truck overturned yesterday morning squashing a car underneath it.
A group of kiwi bikers and myself had been on a run to Lake Ferry for lunch and rode back to Martinborough to refuel when we spotted a sign in the service station telling "the hill' would be closed untill 5.00 pm because of a crash. We and a huge crowd of cars and bikes were still waiting at the bottom of the hillat 10.30 pm last night to get back home.It seems incredible that over 12 hours after the accident the road was still shut.
A rather freaky feeling riding in a convoy of bikes with no lighting except headlights on a twisty road with no other traffic.
It most certainly was our longest 'BIG DAY OUT" ever.
