I'm pretty pleased with myself at the moment. :banana:

Actually, I should probably call my mechanic in Wanganui so HE can be pleased with himself, because beyond oil & filter changes, it's really all his doing that I've got anything to be pleased about really.

The reason?

I finally got around to getting my bike dyno'd on the weekend, and the results were very pleasing. I changed the standard exhaust for a Micron almost 2 years ago, and was told at the time that it "probably" wouldn't make too much difference, but that I should think about getting it dyno'd. My closest workshop with a dyno (in Tauranga) didn't have a fuel analyser setup, and I never quite got around to finding out if anyone in Auckland was set up properly.

Well. The dyno in Tauranga has changed hands/workshops and the new owner/operator has purchased a fuel analyser along with new software to run the whole setup, and so I took the bike over to Te Puke on Friday night & took it in Saturday morning for a run.

My 97 CBR600 F3 put out a max power of 95.20Hp, the roll-on power curve is smooth & straight, over all 5 runs, with nary a sign of a flat spot anywhere. A 5 gear run also showed nice, flat tops in all but 1st & 2nd gear due to wheel slippage on the roller. And the fuel mixture is nigh on perfect at just under 13-1.

The only niggle? The carbs could probably do with balancing, because it doesn't idle "spot on".

My bike`s serviced by an ex-multi franchise dealer mechanic that`s just set up on his own,bloke`s a wizard and she comes back feeling nice and tight and running sweet as a nut.Plenty of bike shops here but finding a good mechanic requires a lot of work,all the best guys are those that have left big dealers and set up their own workshops.Only bummer is that you need to book up well in advance because the guy with the best rep has a 3 month waiting list and the others usually at least a month."My" mech left his last job because his bosses wouldn`t let him do a proper job,more concerned about rushing bikes through the workshop and screwing the customer than giving them a decent standard of service,he`s a bike nut and takes a lot of pride in his skills so he left.

Sweet Slim i am planning on takeing the gixxer on that dyno after before my 6k server and after, cause in the 6k service its getting new air filter, new plugs, tre etc etc. currently on mod is the exhust.

Last time i called in there Robbie didn't know how much the boss was gonna set the dyno price at. do ya have a price for it slim?

Quasi - a ride to Raglan isn't quite as tempting after getting up at 5am this morning to ride back to Hamilton! :eek: Good news is that the new Polyprop socks & Thorlo sock combo that I brought on Saturday meant that my toes were toasty for a change. :)

Shit! 260? That's heaps, is that with the other mods that you were going to do? Was it still pulling after that or did you run out of straight roads.

I reckon it should do 270 Max on a good day...

Cajun was a real hoon on Sunday, we hardly saw him at all except at lunch and the Okoroiri Hotel...you won the 'race' up the Kaimais? you or Adelle?or the VN :buggerd:

That`s a brilliant ride,was around those parts a fair bit when in N.Z. nearly 2 years ago,I was staying with a mate in Claudelands down your way,roads in N.Z. are made for bikes,went to and from B.O.P. from Hamilton a couple of times.Wherever I went in N.Z. always enjoyed the "getting there" as much as whatever lay at my destination,brilliant roads and the best bit was the lack of traffic compared to the U.K.,wherever you go here,no matter how remote it`s pretty rare to get a decent stretch of road to yourself.

Moko - I know what you mean about England roads, after two holidays spent over there with biking friends from VD. :blink: The roads do get better the further north you go, but the temperature sure drops pretty fast! Scotland was still waiting for the previous summer when I was over there a couple of years ago! :eek:


I shared my Dyno results with a couple of the bikers here at work. The boss's reaction was dead funny! "Check out the flat spots on this ..... there are none!!!" says I. "Grrrrrrr," says the boss. :lol:

Adele won, i changed my setup last week, and my rear is to soft now, so it wasn't very good up the kamia,s the vn was miles behind, i mean the slowest corner was still 85km/h my usual usual is 95-100

Yeah. I used to be on Ridersite too, but my login got deleted because I hadn't used it in so long and a lot of them were on VD already. I subscribe to the "speak when you've got something interesting to say" school of forum posting, and duck when the shit starts getting flung. I've got some great friends on that forum, which is why I stay.
