Biker ploughs into three boys after 'idiotic' burnouts
An "irresponsible, idiotic" Harley Davidson rider rode his bike into a bar at a hot rod show and did wheelspins for 30 seconds before driving out and crashing into three young boys, police say.
Kumeu Sergeant Malcolm Wallace today hit out at the offender in the Saturday incident at the town's annual hot rod show.
He said the man rode his Harley into a pavilion being used as a bar.
"For more than 30 seconds the rider completed several burnouts inside the bar. Such was the degree of traction generated on the concrete floor that palls of putrid smoke rapidly filled the venue," Mr Wallace said.
"The rider then rode out the front entrance on one wheel and almost immediately lost control, injuring three boys aged eight to 10 years, who were among the crowd of over 200 assembled outside."
The three boys were taken to North Shore Hospital with abrasions but were later released.
"They were very lucky not to have suffered further serious injury," Mr Wallace said.
Mr Wallace said police quickly arrested the man after the incident, otherwise he may have faced a different sort of justice.
"The angry crowd were preparing to take assertive action and the scene could have become very nasty.
"This rider demonstrated extremely reckless, unacceptable behaviour. Those who witnessed the incident were appalled and horrified."
A 42-year-old Glen Eden, Auckland, man is to appear in Waitakere District Court on Thursday, charged with driving with excess breath alcohol, reckless driving charges, and substantial loss of traction - an offence carrying a maximum penalty of three months' jail, a $4500 fine and six month disqualification.

substantial loss of traction
No such offence as a "substantial loss of traction".
Sustained loss of traction exists though.

Would have been a great stunt but as usual real life isn't like the movies and sounds like it was darn lucky no one got wasted or lynched as in his case.
The way this story has been retold is like something out of a Wild West story.

"On my Iron Horse I ride......" <fading into the sunset>
I always find the amusing side to burnouts, especially in or near pubs. (Ask Dazza about the Whangamomona doorway burnout........or was it in the old school hall......or both?!) A pity children had to be involved in this story. I know my boys would have been crowding the door to get a look-see. You have to give the guy credit for getting the Harley up on one wheel in such a confined space.
Naughty ,naughty with a silent hurrah! Sod what non-riders think anyway, you will always be a target for them, no matter how nice and shiney you can make the motorcyclist 'image'.

Damn right, I would have loved to see what the sensible sentencing trust would have imposed, if they had a say. This country rewards retarded dip-shits like this guy, there is really no disincentive there at all.
Any gene deficient lab experiemnt like this guy, is going to shrug off that "punishment", as quickly as he shrugged off his conscience, in order to do burnouts at a public place, whilst intoxicated.

It seems that members of a certain gang took exception to his lack of skill and gave him a good slapping.

I heard from folks "that was there" the cops saved his arse.Went to the show on sunday and it was the 1st time in years I've seen some patch'ds walking round by themselves.

A mate of mine was up there and saw it (his mate got a punch in).
The way it went is the patched biker (some independant gang) kept doing burnouts in the bar area, cleared the whole place out, stopped, loaded his pockets with beer cans then continued the burnout ... took off and plowed into the group of people (the kids), everyone laid into him that could then the cops came and saved him (arrested him). If the cops were a bit longer they would of needed an ambulance to take him away.
Karma, it's gotta be good ;)

Sustained loss of traction exists though.
Yes indeed! I recently saw an instance where a young guy was charged with sustained loss of traction. To support this the Police stated in their evidence that he had left a skidmark "1.5m long".
I wouldn't have thought that a 1.5m skidmark was at all impressive, unless it was in yer daks...

I was checking out all the 'Letters to the editor' section.
Now I wonder if the kids that were injured and their parents will spot that in the 'personal's' section, when its kinda well hidden......
But good on him for putting up the apology.
As that would have cost him a few dollars to put in that advert.
The Letters to the Editor costs nought.
