Some advice needed.
I have a K5 GSX-R750 that I bought for $15,000 8 months ago (ex demo with 2,200km). This now has just over 10,000 Km on it. In very good condition me thinks. Treated like my child.
This morning I went into the same dealer and asked to trade in mine for K6 GSX-R750. Got told $7,500 + my bike will get me one of these.
By the way I can only test ride the K6 if I'm serious about it because the salesman doesn't wanna put milage on the demo. :gob:
I'm meant to be a VIP customer. Got a card to prove it.
Should I deal or no deal?
I know what the answer is but thought I would put it out there.

why do you want a K6 over your K5? sounds like a crap deal to me, spending 7 grand to upgrade!!! and to not let you test ride! fuck man go some place else if you feel the need for a new machine!

Maybe the salesman is trying to be your friend by making sure you keep the K5. Only a loony would be serious about buying a bike he hasn't test ridden.
Demo models are there to generate sales - they can't do that sitting on a showroom floor.
Fuck 'em.

This man has summed it up. You're a plonker if you're going to pay $7500 for what will pretty much amount to a paint job. Fuck, spend $5000 on a super wicky airbrushing job... it's not like you'll lose resale value given you're already lost a third

Not unless the K6 is worth at least $19500 and even then its hard to imagine an additional 7K worth of improvement over what you have
Cant ride my demo - sheesh

Yep being taken for a ride......................
Got the best advise from Wellington Suzuki - asked about 07 Busa - his words were dont touch them its only a paint job, wait till next year for the revamped model.
I like the honesty, considering he turned a $17k sale into a wait till next year one.
And as for the test riding - I wouldn't even consider buying without trying.
Its like a women - gotta use and abuse before buying...........

Edit - no deal. Not even worth considering. They saw you drooling and put the price up...
What does the K6 gives you that the K5 doesn't? They're both fun bikes, they're both quick, they're both transport. One's a different colour and has been stylistically changed but...
Other than asthetics and the impact on your ego... what's the diff?
Is it worth the cash outlay + 7500 depreciation?

Who is the salesman and which shop is this??
I wanna know who the wankers are.
The deal's a pisstake surely? Unless you're happy to pay $20K for a new 750?
-----------------
Holeshot gave me a new gixxer thou to play with for the whole of last Sat - and I told them I only wanna see how it rides.
Karl/Carl one of the salesman there knows me and how I ride and they still happily let me take the bike out for a day.
By the way - that was the 2nd time in my life I entered the shop, the 1st time was the week before where I accompanied another KB'er to buy some gloves and asked them about having a 750 for the day - then being told they only had a 600 or thou as demos - I said I'll come back next week and take the thou. - So I'm no VIP customer.
Didn't have to fill out any forms or sign anything, took a copy of my license and that's all.
Go see them - talk to Rod or Carl - they've got a beautiful K6750 just sitting there.

By the way - why not just get the thou?? There isn't that much diff between them - well not for someone who's spent 8 months on a 750 anyway.

you can't TESTRIDE the DEMO?????????????????????? :gob:
erm  were you wearing heels and a handbag? - 'cause salesmen usually only treat women with that amount of distain
either keep wat u got
or, if you must change [and i can't see why you would want to, all things considered] GO SOMEWHERE ELSE
.... oh - and please [for the sake of all his future potential customers] don't forget to drop in on the salesmen concerned and tell him how his poor attitude has lost him a customer ........:innocent:

Why are you wanting to replace a K5 GSX-R750 you've just bought and replace it with a K6 GSX-R750? They're essentially the same bike!
If you were bored with the power and were interested in an K6 GSX-R1000 then I'd understand.
And, why go for a K6 GSX-R750, why not just then purchase a K7 GSX-R750 which is brand new instead of being last years model.

Only a loony would be serious about buying a bike he hasn't test ridden.. Well I must be a complete fucking loony as I've bought 3 brand new bikes in the last 10yrs & never test rode any of them  Oh about the 750 thingy - fuck them, go else where !!!

Yeah I hear ya - but isn't that the role of the bike shop... I mean they actually need to miles on them so the can do some tax shit. Not 100% sure what but I know a Mitsi dealer that gives some of the cars out to all and sundry when they're too low on the clock at renewal time.
Take the business elsewhere. The sales dude's yanking your chain... testing to see how keen you are. Tell him to fuck off.

I agree...I've ridin both...and the K6 is a nicer bike...very quick...and very very very easy to ride quick!! comforts about the same...the styling I'm still on the fence about...but there is a big big difference...just in the feel of the machine

I know what you mean about the styling. Personally I don't like the idea of front indicators being where they are. I clip cars on regular bases with my mirrors commuting daily. The fuel tank is fucked up too. Pipes look cool though.
