Hey guys,

What do you do with exhaust which has minor rust on them, how do you protect them from rusting further.

I am referring to the whole exhaust, CRC doesn't seem to work. Again it's just minor surface rust. Can I sand it down and paint it?

If yes what type of paint?

Or would it get too hot and screw it up?

Sant and paint is the cure.

You can buy special heat resistant paint made for the job. There's plenty of options at your local auto store.

From memory I believe VHT do a good hi-temp exhaust paint, I think that's what I've used but I haven't painted one for a while.

Good luck.

Just found this, have a read;

Yep have used the VHT 1300 deg F stuff for years and its great. I normally use the flat black colour but it does come in other colours too.

You can get it at Repco and places like that.

Give the Duplicolor ceramic exhaust paint a whirl. About $14 a can from repco.

Ok good article there, rang Repco apparently VHT range are the most common ones and the recommended one.

Anything else I have to know before I do it. Or just clean the shit on it and spray a few layers lolz.

0oh off course read the instructions on how many layers blah blah.
