Mud boy, Rg100!! And I were nearly the first people at the track, thanks to the guidance of sniper, otherwise I an sure that I would have gotten lost!!
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
It is quiet funny about the way teenagers think, I told mud boy to make sure that he had ALL his paper-work with him at ALL times while we went thru the Scrutineering … well each time he needed a piece of paper work, where was it??? In his pocket? NO back in the car… 3 times ..YES 3 times he had to run back and get something!!!!
But this is the time to learn…
<o:p></o:p>
Practice:
<o:p></o:p>
It started to rain… hard, i had trouble seeing where I was going… and I am sticking to that excuse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
<o:p></o:p>
The bike never slid and I never got to power slide it, I managed to keep it rubber side down, what did I learn? … it rains in CHCH.
Oh and about the track….. when it rains in CHCH, the track gets wet!!!!
Also all the gun riders still go fast or fall off….(think they were scared of RG100!!)
<o:p></o:p>
Qualifying:
I went a little faster, I was suppose to follow Luke around, to warn the other riders… (hahahahaha) I couldn’t keep up with him in the wet, but it was starting to dry the lines, this helped me follow where I was SUPPOSE to be… a lot of the time I was not in the dry bits ..grrrrr lol and Luke disappeared from sight again….glen? well, lets say that he only lapped me once (I think).funny thing, even though Luke left me.. we qualified next to each other on the grid!!
<o:p></o:p>
1st race:
Lucky for me this was in the dry, the man up the front was holding up the “check the helmets “ sign, so I turned to look at Luke to check ( my job) and what was he doing??????? Yep that’s right looking behind himself at the guys at the back ( yer there were people BEHIND us !!!!!!) I politely told him to turn around and look at the sign and be ready for the lights….
Now at the riders briefing we were told about the start, the lights were to be on for a short amount of time (3-5sec) then when they go OUT you were to start, what does Luke do? He waits for the green………………….hahahahaha best place to learn. But I didn’t wait, I knew that he would catch up to me once he had gotten over his blond moment. Sure enough he passed me on the back straight, bastard!
But at least I had someone that I knew I could keep up with around the corners, I felt sorry for all the guy/girls behind me… hopping they would be put off by the “lines” I took… Luke was a good teacher…I was lapped by the top 5-6 riders, glen went flying past me and just left me like I was standing still around the hair pin…I managed to keep up with him till the next corner, this surprised me but then he took a short cut…
As I was suppose to keep Luke insight, I noticed he was slowing, I pulled up next to him and he didn’t look happy at all, luckily it was on the last lap and when we pulled in he told me that he was cramping up and felt sick… he was dehydrated. He also didn’t realise that is was a race!!! Blond moment No.2…
<o:p></o:p>
Sunday’s Scrub in.
<o:p></o:p>
We were allowed 3-4 laps… not what they had promised but the big boys on their big toys couldn’t hold onto them and they kept falling off, this eat into our time…. Wankers, you would think that they would know how to hang on tight.. or go a bit slower till you knew everything was right, or even as it was ONLY FUCKING SCRUB IN, that that is ALL THEY WOULD DO!!. but no they had to go and fall off, again eating into our track time, rant over.
The day was great, hot and sunny, I went out and scrubbed in .. came back happy that I had finally got the hang of the front straight…all I need to learn now is the corner bits and the back straights…Luke came in buzzing.. he had managed to get all the corners bang on… so I told him that Stroudy might as well pack up and go home then??
Then frosty spied him.. and spat the dummy, “where is you water??????” Ummm it’s over…. “no don’t even talk to me till I see the bottle of water!” thanks for that mate, after the day before’s events and me telling him to drink all the 4 lts that I had got… it still took some-one else to drum in that I knew what I was talking about!!!
He drunk 99% of the 4lts and 2 lts of the other stuff they had there…
<o:p></o:p>
2nd race ( and as it turned out the last).
<o:p></o:p>
Luke and I lined up next to each other.. I was NOT going to wait for him this time, it was all up to himself, I got a great start, over took at least 4 riders before the first corner!... but I did back off early, I didn’t want to put anyone off. After the first corner was out of the way and NO_ONE fell off ( take note all the “big guns”) I started to push hard.. then Luke flew past… but I managed to keep him in sight for 2 laps then did a very late brake into the hair pin and over took him and a few others.. I remember going around the outside of a guy on the Aprilla, then he took me back , so I then went on the inside… but he had the power down the straights, and said good bye…
Fasted lap time was 2;08; I think I could get to 2 if I had the time.
Luke’s best time <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:time Minute="11" Hour="14">2:11</st1:time>: he could go a <st1:place>LOT</st1:place> faster, I recon around <st1:time Minute="56" Hour="13">1:56</st1:time>-57’s given more time.
And I nearly forgot…
I OVER TOOK “SPUD RACER”!!!!!!
<o:p></o:p>
Unfortunately as there were so many crashes we lost our last race, this was disappointing as we had travelled all that way for 20 laps…
But shit happens
<o:p></o:p>
I really enjoyed the racing, the speeds were what I was comfortable with, we have a 150 here at home for Luke, but I would love have one for myself to have fun on.
<o:p></o:p>
A big thanks to the Canterbury M/C club for the loan of the bikes!! We would not have been there if it wasn’t for them.
<o:p></o:p>
The <st1:place><st1:PlaceName>North</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType>Island</st1:PlaceType></st1:place> clubs should take a good look at their approach and programs, for the young riders down there, they supply a bike AND gear, have regular training days, BOTH on the track AND in the classroom!!
The quality AND quantity of riders was a tribute to the club, it was only the faster riders that fell or DNFed. Towards the end of the race (lap 6-8) even I lapped slower riders,(HONEST) but even they were schooled enough to be out there holding their own lines, I think the youngest was 13 the oldest, 17 ( apart from the “teachers”)
There were 45 starters…there were many girls!
<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
<o:p>ALSO A BIG THANKYOU TO SNIPER..</o:p>
<o:p>thanks for the hospitality!!! and for making me sleep with glen:sunny: </o:p>
<o:p></o:p>

It was great to see you and mudboy out there again AJ... Im happy you guys made the the trip... well done to both of you!!! I watched the first race on Saturday and you looked good out there.

Respect to Pete Jones and all the hard work he has done getting the Chch juniors racing... I think the huge field you saw AJ was largely due to Pete and the effort he puts into those kids. So big ups to KB's Oyster

Hope to see you again soon AJ, good luck with your Wellington plans :sunny:

good read AJ.

We would love to do something like what Peter has done down south with the winter series rounds. But as always it comes down to someone having the time and energy to make it happen. If you're volunteering .....

The vicclub should have 3 bikes for junior scholarship riders this year. So if you know anyone who's intereted, then drop us a CV....

What a great sight to see....all those yunguns lined up ready to go.

I was amazed at just how quick some of the times of the front runners actually was. Heres hoping we see more of this kinda thing.

Well done to you and MudBoy and RG100

funny thing happened at the after match funtion...
luke went up to Shaun and asked him..
" how come you were slow?"... now to most this may sound checky..
but it was not ment to be,
it was obvious to all that shuan was down on power compaired to the front runners...
what was shaun's reply?.... he was getting old ( yer, yer i know most would agree here) but he made no real excuses...
then he called luke " his infection" when luke went to chat to him on the ferry... hahahhahahahha

ummmm... what you do is..... hey where were you in chch???
is.. you don't twist the neck off the throttle.... and you let the younger ones pass ya... then sneak up on the inside...
and once they are in the pits, you go and tell them where they can go faster... then wait for them to fall off... unfortunatly this didn't work for me but it seamed to work for the other classes....lol
