Got a few questions regarding mods that you've done to your bikes.

First up is what aftermarket pipe are you running? (if any) and is it a slip-on or a full system?

If you are running a slipon, have you bothered to remove the cat converter and get some pipes fabricated in its place? If so much did it cost?

I've looked on ebay but not had any luck finding aftermarket double bubbles, im a tall bastard so if i end up getting a new R6 im gonna need one. Have you got one and where did you get it from?

Last but not least, what is the approx cost to get a PCIII installed and mapped (including buying it)?

i really like the look of the zorst on rm_something's bike, im sure he will pipe up soon.....
in saying that, i thought this was quite appropriate (just remove the zx10 bits);

Which is the best exhaust for my 10R?

NO ONE CARES. There is not one perfect exhaust for the 10r. If you're lookin for extra hp you're nuts to begin with so who cares about that. If you want sound, D&D is loud and typically the shorter the pipe the louder it will be.

Get what exhaust YOU think looks best and leave it at that. it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. MOST all aftermarket exhausts will out last your time with the 10r so IMO, thats not a factor.

If you get a full system you will need a pcIII and remaping. IMHO a s/o is best for most folks.

of course the "If you're lookin for extra hp you're nuts to begin with so who cares about that" part doesn't apply here as you will be looking for all the extra power you can muster up :shit:

His is a GYT-R (yamaha racing) pipe which you can run from day one without voiding warranty, but i've only ever ridden in front of him (his choice) so dont remember how it sounded.

I'll just be getting a slipon, just wondering what people got, where from, how much etc. Also the cat converter is a power theif, and not needed by legislation in NZ, just found a guy in aussie thats cut his out and replaced it with a home-made straigh through system to mate up to his slipon - this is what im planning to do. Just wonder if anyone here has done the same.

I don't think i'll be need too much more power from a new R6, just more midrange, understandably from the way the engine is designed there is f-all down low. Im more about being a fast rider than having the fastest bike, and im a fat c*nt so need the extra midrange to get me up to speed out of the corners.

oh ok, so you've hooked it up, are you planning on getting a custom map done or have you noticed a difference as is?

edit: haha, i watched that video last night, didnt know it was yours! I'd be hoping for a similar result but for considerably less $$$, its the slipon thats going to dig trenches in my wallet.

yeah the slip on cost me $300 and the full system cost me $1400 delivered. if you want to go to cheap i got the standard headers that you can cut up and make a mid pipe to get rid of the cat. it will pretty much be as close as your going to get to a full system if you dont have much dollars.

With his new full system you'll have no problems hearing him while in front... even with ear plugs in :gob:

I cringe to think what his mid-range was like with the standard pipes though..

r6_KID. I have done lot of mods on mine. Have a Puig Double bubble screen in grey smoke, which has the R6 logo on it, makes a big difference not so much bufferting on the helmet. Came from the states (Solomotoparts.com) $69.95 + freight. and clear alternatives intergrated LED taillights $89.95 + freight. Lockhart phillips flush mount LED front indercators,$37.95 +
Waiting on a Hotbodies chrome slash-cut slip on $84.99 + freight From states (motorcycletoystore.com),looks the same as the race fit slash-cut selling at $399.00. All i have done is disconnect the two cables from the unit ,but leave the plug connected. I will post a photo when finished. It won't sound any different from the stock pipe, but for my preference the slash-cut looks the smartest on the R6.
The above sites are really good to deal with generally goods are here within six days from dispatch, have had no problems fitting any of the assessories i have bought.
Good time to buy from the states at the moment believe nz dollars around the 70 cent mark.
Buy the way have you looked up the R6 Website ( R6messagenet.com) some dam good info in there.

My PC3 cost me $450, delivered, from FuelMoto. You can find them on eBay. Delivery was super fast, but the map they stuck on it was shit. Best just to ask for a zero map and get it tuned anyway, or download one yourself. The Kiwi peso was weaker back then, so it would be closer to $400 now, I believe. No customs hit on it either.

Mapping cost me $450 at GP Motorcycles in Tauranga.

Total cost to correct the fuelling then: $900. Bike was running shit before, and is now putting out about 27hp more, so well worth it.
