25th January 2007, 08:25
Well did a search & can't find reference to it elsewhere (well, except in the unmentionable thread about page 506).
Anyways cut & paste from Bayden's email:
We have a great new venue to race at. We are looking to be here for the next 2 years!!! OR more. We are having a fun day on the 11th of Feb 07 at the Wellington wind turbine ( long valley ) and then follow the signs! It starts at 12:00 noon. This is to see how it all goes. The surface is all new and a great location. Please come and support the kick off of buckets & motards for 2007.

Be good to see you. Found any carbs yet? I have one but has a size issue. The float bowl is 3mm too deep to clear the engine/gearbox casing.
RG can get in the queue behind me mate.Sorry. Who are you again?

Grind the cases:gob:
Might just work

Drain pipe can be filed off, had to do this for the RG, careful clean & devcon/file might be the go. But having them touch is not preferable for vibration frothing fuel.

I'll take a pic tonight and see what you think. Too hard to explain the issue in words. And, yeah, frothing the fuel is what I'm trying to avoid.
It's not really clear in this (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=51971&d=1169796313) pic.
Are you saying I don't need a drain hose to a catch tank for the carb?
F5 Dave
29th January 2007, 14:24
That drain is only open when you turn the screw so no you don't need that or to route that to a catch bottle. You do need to on the breather tubes, but they are half way up the carb.
Skunk
29th January 2007, 14:35
Cool, I'll grind the bottom off the carb then. Breather is done (just not on that photo). Still need an idle screw too, doh! Thanks Dave.

The old airstrip - it has tarmac.
Since when??
Its a bit of a ngarly road from the carpark to the airstrip
Skunk
29th January 2007, 16:44
OK, it's 1/3 tarmac. Since a short while ago.
Watson's son wanted a drift pad I believe.
F5 Dave
29th January 2007, 16:45
apparently the airstrip has been resurfaced so one of the kids can practise Drifting, whatever that means.
But the road in there is likely the same.
opps beat me skunk. Savour this moment, it will be rare.

fuck, you're a winner Ivan.
It must take some serious skill to win a race in a straight line.
Stop beign a poofter, and come ride around corners.
Or are you asshamed of getting lapped 4 times in 10 laps??
Ivan
1st February 2007, 20:30
Nope I aint afriad,
I will definatly be doing all the other rounds but I hope theres a Championship.
I still hold the #3 Wellington F5 bucket class championship plate:whocares:
And I am ahead of F5Dave:rockon: but really:whocares:
because its only a one off
And missed :second: place by 1 point to hamish:shutup:

you didnt 'get' third place, you defaulted to third place.
You were slow a poo back then (as was i)
What i was referring to, about the getting lapped, was the most recent bucket racing, were the track was 19seconds, and i lapped you 4 times in 10 laps.
Even when we swapped bikes Jay and I still lapped you twice. I hope your a bit faster now
Ivan
2nd February 2007, 16:50
What was I riding?
Lol I cant remember I got pissed of riding the 50 and ended up riding everyone elses bike that day? When I went on Jays 50 tho you didnt lap me at all we were on the same lap. That was fun lol
Kinda sucked tho when I rode the FXR and got lapped by my 50:dodge:

AJ got whipped by his bike today... once when he was racing on it, and once when he was racing against it.
Both my bikes came home broken... slightly melted piston on the AX and broken exhaust stud on the ZXR. And I wasn't riding them when they broke.
Sketchy_Racer
11th February 2007, 21:38
haha,
just the way buckets are supposed to be huh..
Your ZXR is one fine machine, i would have loved to see what it was like with the warpped disk off.
And thank you so much for the opportunity to semi melt your piston. it was my pleasure... ;)
haha... AJ fell off... haha what a legend!!
oh and the track!! how much fun can you have!! it was great!!! Baydens already getting the calender sorted so we can have oodles of fun!!
My day was interesting... i had No bike, yet everyone seemed to come to the party and lent me thiers over the day. i love riding diffferent bikes.
my sum up
Skunks AX: it great.. till it goes bang(ish) yawn next
Skunks ZXR: it awesome! fast and handles great untill i hit the brakes and it tries it best attempt to spit me off
Andys GT125: awesome. a bike like that, should not got that fast. it just wrong. I love it
Mudboys RG50: it prooves that yes you can power slide a 50cc.. soggy standard shock, and a less than average rear tyre.. great fun!! its a good teacher
Bung Bungs H100: Scares the crap outta me quite frankly. Its fast, like a light switch. fun, but scary
F5 daves RS50: That is one seriously cool bike. extremly hard to ride fast. Cred to dave who makes it look easy!
Yeah, really wanna thank the peoples that let me out there. my day would have pretty boring other wise.
Next time when i have my purple rocket out there, feel free to come ask for a ride.. dont be modest.. just demand. I think i'll apoint it to be the club slut
cheers,
-Glen

THE crash....
i managed to get my knee down (hope no-one has photo's as i think the bike was preaty much up right at the time...)and so i was pushing it harder and next thing the front went AND the back....and due to lack of riding ablity... the bike and fell over... but this was only AFTER the flag marshall had packed his bags and was walking away...:sunny: i actully thought that was the funniest part.
it was good to see my bike ridden so well. to be able to see the potenial of the thing was great.
as for skunks bike....thanks matey for the ride!
what i would change if it was mine?.... lower the rear end... and the colour.
and i think i could love it.
thanks to baydon for finding a great fun place to race.... now how can we change it:innocent:

no your an idiot ivan that needs to get a job.
And i'm not looking foward to you been there, a mobile chicane is bad enough, but you.... well... lets not go there
I still cant get over how much grip there was. that surface felt really oily, but in saying that, it was a little un-predictable at times.. i had a few slides i was not expecting...and then some that i really should of had... but didnt...
weird... it will be interesting in the wet...
F5 Dave
12th February 2007, 17:05
Didn't really see much bad when I walked around picking up bits of rubber. Very few people fell off so is a good indication. When we held a couple of races in the Riverbank carkpark people just couldn't stay on. Esp in hot tar.

No Im not an idiot im at tech to get qualified and learn lots of things, then get a job,
No I am not a mobile chicane either
Sketchy_Racer
12th February 2007, 18:59
Ok so it was YOUR choice to go to tech.... dont hark at us cause you have no money. We dont wanna hear it.
And the riders around you will decide if your a mobile chicane or not.
Ivan
12th February 2007, 19:10
hey dont go getting upset, AJ was joking around and so was I just cause your having your period doesnt mean you have to spaze.
Riders around me, far coming from the professional racer,
I think I will listen to guys like Adam and that and they dont have any complaints
Sketchy_Racer
12th February 2007, 19:15
Thats cool.
You'll listen to the guys around you that arent blunt enough to say what they think.
You're ok on the RS... but on buckets, your plain dangerous at times!
Ivan
12th February 2007, 19:22
:tugger: guys who aint blunt enought to say, I think the guys would say something if they had a complaint which they dont, I think I could ask a few KBr's who were at the track day I was at what they think and they woldnt say I was slow or dangerous...............
Buckets what Ive raced when lately............................... I havent raced a bucket for ages becasue I couldnt because of my elbow,
And the sad thing about this is your saying it and your the only person,
Man your not even that good,
Mr I was power sliding a 50:tugger:
More like the tires were losing grip on the oily surface from a new seal, kind of like a road when the seal is laid the oil sits on the surface it needs a few good rains on it to get the oil of the track.
A new track seal is not being used as much as a road so it is going to take longer toscrub the top oily layer off and get into the grippy ness

Yeah, it was great to see very minimal crashing. I think that the high tyre walls may have slowed a few people down. I know it certainly slowed me down at certain parts.

F5 Dave
13th February 2007, 08:33
ahh whatever, its a workhorse. I was in between the other red van, - even though it did have hideous scratches down the side.
Sheesh the race out of the place was pretty frenetic, a couple went the slow way & I followed Craig down the twisty way at a speed I wouldn't have gone without someone ahead of me. Skunk in pursuit. Then we waited at the lights for ages for everyone to catch up, all was fine away from there until Skunk slipstreamed me (at 40kph) & made a block pass. Beaten again. . . :o

haha
same as me,
I have that same issue try give it some heat and if you want smak around the stud with a punch to break any rust off it really works well
Then a nice pair of vice grips and gently move it out slowly does it.
