We may be heading down on Friday, but we will probably spend the night in Oamaru at some friends to see some Wolf Hounds.

Somehow, I don't think I'll bother going to the Vincent this year. Stromfrau and I can sit at home with a nice cold Chardonnay and listen to the band in comfort. I may be tempted to get out trhe bike and head off to meet those coming in though. :scooter:

Sorry to tell you this folks, but have been practising Guns and Roses, Sweet child of Mine, and will have a crack with the banc again this time, hopefully more than the drummer will know the song, it just dont sound the same when you acapella a rock song to a set of drums!!

Hoep the weathers going to chear up a bit.

Fingers crossed that Mother Nature will visit from Wednesday right through till Monday and give us a heatwave that makes a Rally to remember,.

Counting the hours down, and well up for this rally.

Well we are heading down on Friday about 9-ish.

We are not sure if we are going down the middle or the coast.

I would like to make the Vincent Rally Friday night, but may spend a night some where.
We would more than likely stop at Lake Tekapo Motor Camp if we go down the middle.
We may stop in at Oamaru to see friends and may stay if time is short, if we end up going down the coast road.

Well I am going to Alexandra on the Friday, leaving Dunedin about 3:30pm over the pig root, and meeting my partner and her parents at the Chatto Creek Pub and staying at their place which is just down the road for the night... Then going to the site on Saturday, get pissed and err... do rally stuff... I can meet others in Alexandra on the Saturday or even at Chatto Creek on the friday evening... or anyone that is gonna be in Palmerston around 4pm ish.

Looks like I have monday off as well so have 2 extra days to play with... yah... not sure what I am doing there may shoot through to Queenstown.

:done: (err I think... I am playing it by ear as per and accordance with)

Well, were going to just cruise around the South Island until Friday BUT Cb wanted to do some stuff at Chez Scumdog so we came home today.

Will be heading up Friday midday or so, gotta visit somebody near Omakau then down to the Vincent, see y'all there then.

(AND I promise to stay up late - don't want to topple Dangerous off his 'early-to-bed' throne eh?)

OK our plan :innocent: is that we leave about 9-ish and head down the coast and turn off to go to Waimate.
So we can ride to Kurow and head to Omarama.
Then down to Alexandra and up to Galloway.
It doesn't seem to be much difference in distance and the trip should be more interesting.

Well we are now home and are no longer one of the great unwashed.
After two days at the rally with a bit of tiki touring we are glad to be home.
Now I'm clean, I will have to clean the bikes as they are covered in bugs and dust after we (SDU and I) did a few gravel back roads to get to a friends place.
It was a great weekend and thanks to all that were there as we (the royal we) had a ball.
Now we have eaten we are off to bed with out hearing anyone snoring (that is apart from SDU :dodge: ) or small domestics or people firing up their bikes at ungodly hours..

Lemans, SDU, & MR unsensible made the 1st hurdle on their journey south  They made it past Rakaia, waving like a bunch of day-release patients

And we were laughing to our self's, as we could see you bottom lip sticking out and were wishing that you were coming along to the Rally as well. :scooter:

Hey guys,

Well, I finally arrived home, at 3pm today after staying an extra night with my BRONZ crew, to tidy up the site. All in all I had 5 days up there, and what a fantastically enjoyable few days they were.

The ride down was fun, the Kawarau Gorge thrills me and freaks me, especially when the weathers not at its best. anyway once the rain had stopping lashing down, it was nice to arrive in Alex and take the DryBiker gear off. To arrive on site and see a bare field and feel the tension of a spectacular rally is a fantastic feeling.

But woo what a lot of work lies ahead. I take my hat off to the organisers of all of these rallies, to see what has to be organised and to be there from the start with the crew is wicked. Personalities emerged as the sunscreens went up, but the feeling of comradery was awesome.

I think it hit me that the rally was going to be a biggy was when the truck to host the band arrived, ooooo I could feel the party starting to take shape.

The food folk arrived and we got stuck into our barbeque's and rum and beer drinking for the preceeding 2 nights, and during the day all hands were to the deck.

The BRONZ crew are a professional bunch of fun and cruisey people and I felt proud to be part of the group. Lyndon and Lyne well done especially, you guys amaze me.

When the lights went up on the sunshades, there was a cheer and I think it reallys et the rally off it was fantastic......

On the friday follwowing a dining out expedition off site, we watched as the first few trickled in, and there must have been a good 6-700 at least arrived for the friday night do.

Shotgun were fab and yep, its a shame they're leaving. As always, I bounce like a tigger when I see folk I have met at rallies, there's a huge friendly bond there, thats kinda weird to explain but its there alright.

Well Fridays numbers double and some on the Saturday and the field was pumping with an expectant party atmosphere. The events went like clockwork. And I for one, was delighted to see Mystery Girl thump the crap out of that complete tosser who decided to rugby tackle her. What a wanker he was, I think if guys on the field hadnt thought it was a stitch up, then he was going to be in for a real bad time of the men resent there, but it was such a horrid surprise to everyone there, that I dont think they actually believed their eyes. What a top bird, she finished the race and was the winner, and did the T later on, so she was game for a laugh, so good on yer, mystery girl.

At the end of the night to again, be one of the last standing, it was unbelievable to be standing on what seemed to be 3 feet of beer cans.

In the morning, I couldnt believe the sound of those bikes starting up, what an exciting noise, almost felt like an earthquake was occuring. And yup the Harley Guys were massive in presence, nice to see 1000 others enter the race for the 1st away though!!

The clear up started during the Sunday, the local school kids turned up and make the filed shine but what an odd feeling that was once everything was away, to think that 24hrs was a fantastic and fun party. Everyone was absolutely knackered after all the work, but we managed to party on the Sunday and Monday during the clear up.

So it was a sad feeling to leave the sight after spending the few days with my lovely BRONZ members, you guys are immensely awesome folk, and its great to know you.

Great to see mates from the KB crew, although not much time spent with you guys, so dust off your platforms and press those flares for the Mad March Hare Rally, my new tatoo will be in place to be flashed on, so it'll be front and rear flash this time.....Ahar!

Again, well done BRONZ for a spectacular clockwork rally, I for one, am looking forward to the next one.

Coi 4 now fellow KBer's and Bronze alike. The journey was survived once more.

Woodybee, aka Jan.

PS What a crack working the bar was too, a fantastic spot of sussing out eye candy I might add!! My eyes were out on storks for most of the 4hours behind the bar.

Till the next rally, Enjoy Enjoy, coz Lifes a Toy x:sunny: :bye:

You just never know.

She can hussle the DR650 along, so with time I'm sure she will on the Guzzi.
Once she gets more use to the size, weight and what lean angles it can handle.
Because on the DR you are so high when you lean it a lot, you are still along way from the ground.
On the lower Guzzi she thinks that she is leaning a lot, as the ground is closer to her.
She noticed now much more she could lean when I took her for a ride on the back to the Dams.
And is diffidently getting faster all the time.:scooter:
I would like to get her on the race track to practise and learn what she and the bike can really do.

Good report, glad you found it easy and a nice day!

I didn't think you were going home via SH1 though.

Good videos and slides too.

I was almost tempted to ride home with you guys but wanted to visit my son in Wanaka so went that way.

You could have gone home via Dansey's and the Haka etc from Macraes, would have been better than SH1.

Trotter's gorge and the coast road to Oamaru is a nice wee change from SH1 too, from there. Cheers John.
