Three men were sitting together bragging about how they had given their new
wives duties.

The first man married a woman from Auckland and bragged that he had told his
wife she was going to do all the dishes and house cleaning. He said it took
a couple of days but on the third day he came home to a clean house and the
dishes were done.

The second man had married a woman from Christchurch. He bragged that he had given
his wife orders that she was to do all the cleaning, dishes and the cooking.
On the first day he didn't see any results, but the next day it was better.
By the third day, his house was clean, the dishes were done and he had a
huge dinner on the table.

The third man had married a Lower Hutt girl. He boasted that he told her that
her duties were to keep the house cleaned, dishes washed, lawn mowed,
laundry washed and hot meals on the table for every meal.

He said on the first day he didn't see anything, the second day he didn't see anything
either, but by the third day most of the swelling had gone down and he could
see a little out of his left eye.

Enough to fix himself a bite to eat, load the dishwasher, and telephone a landscaper.

I don't know, Wasp, my husband married me (13 years in the Hutt) and I don't hear him complaing. But then, he's usually pretty tired after he's done the washing, ironing, vacuuming, cooking, lawn mowing, weed eating, bike cleaning, etc!

Depends on what they mean by Lower Hutt - it runs from Taita/Epuni down to Petone/Horokiwi, with many very exclusive suburbs in between - like the area around the hospital, and Woburn. Unlike Levin, where the grottiest area is near the hospital! I lived in Gracefield, which wasn't too bad, being on the edge of Woburn and all!

Nah, we're not wanted by either Lower Hutt or Upper Hutt. Nobody likes us. That's why Hungry Kiwi won't deliver pizza here from either end.

Apologies! I wasn't sure if Stokes Valley was Lower or Upper Hutt. And I actually meant Korokoro, not Horokiwi - shows what a few years away does for the memory!

Gracefield once was the location of a legendary motorcycle race circuit in the days of the Marlboro series. Best ride I ever saw was Ginger Molloy on an H2R Kawasaki. Bike wouldn't start (push starts for races in those days) and he was left on the grid for what seems like minutes. Never have I seen anyone ride a bike so hard once he got going - the thing was getting bent all out of shape when it landed after crossing the railway tracks halfway down the main straight and he never backed off for a heartbeat. Nearly caught up the lead rider, who IIRC was Geoff Perry on a TR750 Suzuki. Classic days and equally as good as Wanganui or Paeroa.
