Hiya,

I did a "wee" mistake putting my rear wheel back into the Guzzi after getting a new tyre put on.
Unfortunately this involved the rear caliper plate spinning around, locking the rear wheel up and tearing off the brake hose !!!
Luckily I was doing all of 10km/h.
I managed to get the bike home and dismantled the rear wheel and removed the hose.
Then panic set in: I needed this bike fuctional for my trip to ChCh tomorrow !!!

Went down to Wellington Motorcycles and Pete (Crasherfromwayback) and Mike helped me out by making a new brake hose up for me within an hour !!
They saved my bacon !!

SO, BIGGGGG THANKS TO WMCC !!!!!!!!!!!

All I have to do is reassemble the rear wheel (correctly) tonight, re-bleed and I'm happy. Bring on Roger Waters !!

Oh yes, lesson learned - always check everything after reassembly.

Just as well you did a test ride.
Just imagine the flap if you were loaded up and on the way to catch the Inter Islander.
Hope you have a less eventful trip and enjoy the concert.

By the way it is pissing down and SDU is drying out her gear from riding home.
And I got wet when I was getting a new front tire for the V11.

Yeah done another test-ride, all seems okay.
Bleeding the brake took a while though.

I'll look out for ya daughter, Merv. Betcha there will be some hot women there,..not that I would look, being a happily married man........

Forget to reattach the torque arm?

Forget to reattach the torque arm?

No, thought I had slotted the brake plate into the rectangle pin on the swingarm. Must have gone just under the pin instead, so when I touched the rear brake, it swung the whole plate around the disc, snapped the line and locked the rear wheel up.
That definitely won't happen again !!!

.

Yeah master cylinders for rear brakes (and even worse on dirt bikes) are so small now, they pump fuck all fluid. Often easier to pump fluid back through the bleed nipple and out the top!

I just swapped a Hardly Ableson for a Triumph Speed Triple (I'm not as old I thought I might be) at WMC and they have always been really helpful, Pete sorted out this deal out - riding over the hill last night was much more fun on the big T than the Deuce
