fix a flat (spray foam tyre repair stuff)

Anyone have any thoughts on this stuff?

When I got my bike it had a can of this under the seat. I have been told it is great for when you have to get home; but after you use it you have to buy a new tyre as the tyre shop won't even touch them to repair the leak. Where as if you just leave it, as long as the tyre is still in good condition they will plug it and patch it.

So do you guys use this Foam in a Can? Would you again?

never used the foam. had two punctures - both nails in my rear which did not lose psi, then repaired asap.

Id take my chances without foam - UNLESS, im stuck in the middle of nowhere and dont fancy walking too far!

If I was stuck in the middle of nowhere..........and nowhere is usually where the twisties are then I would use it.

Depends on the costs. For me a tyre would cost no more than $250. If I was in middle of nowhere I would be looking at say minimum $100 for tow if not more, then if its a weekend wait for Monday, then get tyre to shop, take it home put tyre back on etc. For the time and hassle in my case it would prob be better and get a new tyre in the process and still be mobile

I picked up a can when I went on a ride to Whangamata. Dread to think what a tow would cost me from there to West Auckland

yep ive used it few yrs ago. worked well but dam it makes a mess on the inside:shit: lol yer tyer shops dont like it much. id use it again if i had someone else take da tyer off later lol

but now... the puncher repair kit has... gas cartridge thingies to inflate tyers with, rubber plugs & tool. they easer to store & way less messy when ya gotts pull the tyer off laters

I always keep a can under my seat. Certainly got me home a couple of times in my youth when you actually had tubes in your tyres. (Hey, it wasn't all that long ago)

I believe the shops are OK to fix these as long as you tell them prior to them taking the tyre off that it's been fixed using goo. No surprises that way.

Well, I had a can under the seat as well as one of the dog turd repair kits with the air pressure canisters for pumping up the tyre after the repair.

The reason I got a foam can as well, is that when you have a small hole and the tyre is already flat which happened to me, you can't actually find the hole unless you pump air into the tyre. This means if you discover you have a flat, your tyre is already way below the recommended pressure and if the nail or offending object is no longer in the tyre, you will not find the hole. Then you really have to use the foam thingy.

Now, my problem was that my foam canister was under the seat and in summer in gets pretty hot under there and on a Coro loop on the other 1400 I traded in for the current one, the can seal let rip and I noticed this blue crap everywhere under the seat and around the battery and dribbling on the concrete. Yep, you don't want to have to clean up after using that stuff.

Now I just have the dog turd kit under the seat and no canister. I don't want another big clean up. :)
