I'm house sitting for my parents, go to bed at 12am, wake up at 5am....
walk up to unlock the gates to find someone has decided to smash them down for us for the 2nd time in 9 months... :gob:
we live on a straight bit of road... and the car has crossed across the road into out fence.....
this time skidding all 4 wheels... by the debris left for me to pick up
it was a Red Mitsubishi sedan/wagon (by the weheel base of skids)
it has lost both head lights and front badge ...
the foam from behind its shoddy front bumper is still in our gutter...
red as its paint is all over our fence...
hit with some force as it has tumbled over our Solid brick pillar and side fence (brick also)
and we had reinforced the pillar from the last idiot that hit it and knocked it for 6..

my complaint.. i call the henderson police.. and get.."if the car isant still there we wont send anyone out.. its a damage property complaint, please come in and file a complaint and take photos if you wish"

so if you see a red Mitsubishi trying to get its drivers side and front fixed cos it should be pretty munted by now... please let me know
or if you drove along hobsonville road and saw something.. i'd really appreciate to know also... between 12am and 5am saturday morning....
rant over.. pics below

Bloody hell....Hard to tell from the photos but that looks like Two sets of skids from 2 vehicles,,,maybe road rage and someone cutting someone off?...real hard to tell, could also have been towing something heavy third mark to the right of other two skids looks like a single skid , something going sideways perhaps a trailer?....or are those other marks still there from last time?

also damage to the kerbing suggests two separate hits from diff vehicles, Just observations , need the experts on here to confirm that , spud, xion, s/dog,patrick?.

Just glad you wernt awake and went to investigate, could have got nasty.

or you wernt collecting the mail.

from the skids on the road.. its one car going sideways... i would say that they would have needed another car/truck to tow them out... it was more damage than last time and that car was totalled......

we usually hear the crashes at night (unfortunately there is one once a year at our gates) and if its late.. and our gates arent damaged.. we just call the cops.. but i guess i slept through this one... if i hadn't, i would have just called the cops straight away.... the house is always dead locked everywhere even when we are home.. and i set the alarm downstairs at night....
its a lovely world we live in.. and scum get to do stuff like this to us.....
and other awesome people suffer.....

im quite suprised you or neighbours heard nothing :shit:

Nicksta
28th January 2007, 11:15
neighbours may have.. i live on the rural side of the road.. about 100m away from the entrance... so not strange we didnt hear it....

Looks like the pillar just wasn't sunk well enough... if you put it back up, stick an I beam in there and make sure it drops at least 2 foot under the ground, should stop it from happening in future.

Also... you saying you didn't hear this? Must be a heavy sleeper.

Nicksta
28th January 2007, 11:27
it was sunk in hard... and reinforced.....
but if we put it too hard in... it causes way more damage.....
tried that the time before last.....
and no... house is far away from the entrance....

Patrick
28th January 2007, 11:30
Is hard to tell from photos, but looks like one car going sideways, somehow...

Check the neighbours... shame his numberplate didn't fall off... without that, sorry to say, there is very little that can be done...unless someone came up with a reply to your damage request. An ad in the paper perhaps?

Explain your situation again to the Police and ask them to check to see if any red cars stolen recently and located locally with heavy damage (ie: insurance rip off...:spanking: )

Bummer though all the same...

Nicksta
28th January 2007, 11:37
it was funny enought the front badge came off....thats how i knew it was a mitsi....
mum called the cops again after i told her on the phone about the badge and the foam from the front body kit... and she called the watch house.... she mentioned Boi Racers... and the watch house jumped and said they would send a car today to investigate....
so a little progress for us....
it cost us a few thousand last time to fix it... that was only 9 months ago.. our insurance is starting to go through the roof with these nasty people hitting our fence.... the dude is paying it off at like $10 a week... from that time...

Nicksta

well, i sopke too soon.. just got a call to say that they are too busy to send someone (at least the called and didnt leave me waiting for them) and if we dont have a licence plate or anything to go by, to go back to plan one and go to the station and lodge a complaint..... is this what i pay taxes for???

28th January 2007, 12:49
That sucks, and I feel for you and your family. However, what are you hoping will be achieved by the cops turning up? All they can do now is take photos, and you have already done that.

Hmm reason i thought another vehicle was involved was that if a vehicle slides sideways into a kerb they almost always end on there side just seems strange seeing only 3 slide lines on the road and by the damage on the kerb i dont think the would have got far.

This is where I support the employment of non-sworn officers. Why use badly needed uniformed Police to do the mundane stuff like coming and seeing you to take statements and photgraphs, etc.? Even contracting a PI to do it would help free up the Uniformed guys.

Funny how the mention of Boy Racers got their attention! What's the difference if they weren't? Whoever it was, they're just as bad! And the $10 per week is a joke! These sods need to be hit hard in the pocket if they're ever going to learn anything! And they should be made to come and clean up/repair the damage!

Nicksta
28th January 2007, 13:10
true.... about the PI....
they wouldnt do a very good job cleaning up/repairing.. we would rather a professional built our brick work.. not some skinny Boi Racer....
but yeah... its a kick in the face the repercussions they get these days... and the last guy... went nuts and assaulted a few people.. he had a bail condition not to come here... so he's definately not rebuilding the fence....

Yeah, you're right about the mentality of these... um...(Insert suitable description...)<_<

The parents should be held accountable too, I, mean you don't need to look too far to see that there are decent, intelligent youngsters around these days... (just look at KB...:innocent: ) I certainly wasn' t the perfect parent, but my kids turned out pretty decent and I'm proud of them! I know the Blue Brigade will testify the bad attitudes of many parents when confronted about their precious kids antics! :argue:

Nicksta
28th January 2007, 13:38
yeah, fully.....

the other thing is, that these might not be young adults... the last dude was in his 30's... with a partner and kid... (who were following in a car behind him)..
so we cant just blame young people too... its just the mentality of people these days to not care about public or private property... they dont own it so they dont care... its sad...

Just tell her you've found a really safe place to ride your bike! No oncoming traffic, no intersections, etc. But you needed a specially safe bike to ride there, you know, specially set up with really good brakes and stuff....:sunny:

Oh oh oh oh can I tell her!!!!! lol

Looks like it's time your parents built a rock garden out there that acts like bollards. How in the hell people manage to crash on a straight peice of road is beyond me. Understandable if someone/thing ran out in front of them but otherwise you have to wonder if they were on drugs/alcohol or fell asleep eh.

Why has your excess gone up for things were they've found the guilty party. You should not be paying an excess either in that case.

You say he's paying it off? Did you have to pay an excess? if so, he should be paying you off first.

In cases where an insurance co. is paying out and there's nobody hurt, or threatened then the insurance co. should investigate, not the cops. Well the cops should, but my cynicism has turned to realism, so I don't expect them to show up.

Sorry to hear about your fence all the same. I'd be pissed off as well.

Plant some nasty large boulders out on the verge to protect the fenceline... that'll learn em!!!:innocent:

Nicksta
28th January 2007, 17:26
one of the bits of rock we had there was half a foot high and that got moved 1m from the grass on to the driveway.....

and the strangest part... its a 50km area... and the black tyre marks start parallel to a 30km/hr roadworks sign.... and yet they still managed to smash our fence, knock over a 20year old tree and topple solid brickwork????
pretty good for 50km/hr!!!!!

Bummer Nicksta the folk's are gunna be pissed. From what you describe [location, local speedlimit, straight road and previous incidences] the question of some type of retribution sounds at least possible.

Decorative ship anchors provide an excellent barrier should there be a next time.

Nicksta
28th January 2007, 20:11
lol... i dont think my mum or the council would appreciate the "decorative anchors"... we got a letter from the council the other day stating that because our trees are such a nice green area for the people driving up the road, we are not allowed to trim a tree without council consent... dont think they will think an anchor is as pretty and green looking??
but then who ever hit our fence managed to completely knock over a 20 year old tree... and try to cover it up by picking the tree back up again and stomping down the dirt!!! pitty half the roots are now exposed and the top of the tree is broken!! i think we noticed ;)

Buggar.....

Hey maybe put some spikes along the grass area, so next time someone does this, they end up with 4 flat tyres all at the same time. That way they wont be going anywhere fast in a hurry.

Also can you stick up a hidden video recording camera to catch all action on tape/dvd. You only have to view the last tape/dvd when something happens.
There are some great machines out there that record stuff now.
That way you wll have it all on tape/film/disc

Patrick
28th January 2007, 20:27

Ummm... Paint it green??

Nicksta
28th January 2007, 21:17
lol.. i had thought about the spikes idea Crashe.. but a friend pointed out that the council/police might not be too happy with spikes sticking out for kids/people to hurt themselves on....
it sucks that the world has come to having to record on CCTV every second of the day just incase something bad happens and some low life does soemthing that you need to be able to have cought on tape as evidence or to find said low life???? my poor mum keeps thinking she is hearing cars coming down the drive and thinking its the person who did it coming to apologise.... (mum and dad drove 5 hours to come back and fix the drive so cars can pass through) I dont want to burst her bubble... she still thinks the world is nice....

29th January 2007, 00:18
yeah it's pretty bad this time, worse than the last time(s) eh :\ stupid ****wits. i can't believe you have to constantly put up with it either... reinforced concrete like you said might be the way to go :) then ya'll just be scraping car paint off it, not getting a ****** crane in to pick up the box each time!

i'm intrugued.....
tell me more!!

there has to be some way to stop people crashing into our gates on a straight 50km/hr bit of road.....

admitadly the cops have put a "high crash area, slow down" sign at the end of the motorway..... (but all these cars come from the other way) :weird:

And still no justice once said low life is found. They usually have no insurance to pay for damages inflicted on others property anyway.

ROFL..... i love it!!!!
problem is that the grass verge is technically council land.. not ours.... so they might not like us altering its appearance...

Why not suggest to the council that that piece of road has lots of speeders, and they should put up a speed camera just there, I'm sure they'd jump at the chance.

They didn't send the NZ CSI squad to trace the owner of the vehicle from a serial number on a fragment of debris? ??

Bollards! One metre into a concrete footing and one metre exposed. Concrete filled steel - use 150 dia x 8mm thick CHS (circular hollow section). Not so big to cause too much damage but large enough to protect property.
