that ZZR is like a scooter compared to this thing!

taking it easy till i get used to her, and plus I need to stick a new rear tyre on before i get to 'playful' on the twisties :innocent:

Looks somewhat similar to mine, only much cleaner! What year is it and what mileage?

Mine's only done 41,000km and I've had it 3 years now. Great bike!

What size rear tyre on yours? Mine came with a 130-70 and I replaced it with same as they didn't recommend increasing the size. Bummer was I since found a site that gave the specs and gthe original tyre was a 150. Going to take me a while to wear out the one I got now, though!

shes a year older than yours, and a UK import - so everything in 'miles' :done:

140/80 on the rear, a "metezeler" or something. Going to replace it in next day or so.

Mine's actually a late '88 build, reg '89. I'm running Metzler's too, a Lazertec ME33 front and the updated ME55 rear. Good tyres and perform well even when scraping pegs, (well okay, toes...), around the Coro. Have full confidence in them and see no need to try other brands, though other owners may have reports on different tyres they've tried.

Even after 3 years and getting comfortable with the bike and more agressive - (maybe not the right word - more confident?), I find the bike is fast, getting to the double tonne pretty quick! handles well enough, stable, brakes hard and is comfortable for long rides bar the handle-bar vibes.

The fuel guage took some trusting it drops very quickly but even with the needle under the red it still only took 15.6lt and hadn't gone onto reserve. (20lt tank) Averages about 45mpg, (still think in the old money...!) when cruising but cane it and you'll think there's a hole in the tank!:gob:

Im stoked that the dude gave me a full set of mint fairings still in their box! Plus shes got a full service history since her import!

Cheers edbear, got lots of confidence building to do before I get to 'peg scrape' status!

First lesson of new bike: 60 on speedo is MPH not KPH !

........First lesson of new bike: Wondering why im passing everyone in a 50k zone with needle on '60' ? ....actually 60 MPH (100KPH) ...woops!

Jeebus mate - you don't need a needle to tell you the difference between mph and kmh!!

Enjoy the new ride.

Awww! Mate, it wont take long to build confidence with these things! I finally got my wife back on pillion after 30 years a couple months ago and we did the Waipu Coast ride on our way to Whangarei. She was so relaxed I was scraping my toes two-up! (By the way, people's who may scoff - that's after pulling my feet back on the pegs..! Very easy to scrape toes when feet forward!) She didn't realise and was really enjoying the ride!

Envy the new fairings!, my left side is cracked but figure it's not worth enough to go to the expense of replacing it. Doesn't look too bad from a distance...

Didn't you say the tread was just gone in the middle? Surely the twisties are the best place to get the rest of the use out of it :)

Not that I've got experience or anything (except wearing out the middle of my tyre from riding too slowly (and straight) ...)

yeah that does make sense, but i dont trust that tyre... looks really old. prob make a good track day tyre if someone wants it? hehe

will be heading on down to henderson motorcycles to get a new one fitted... may go for a dunlop arrowmax or another metezler - but i dont really know too much about tyres! I just liked the arrowmax!

Nice one :niceone: In my favourite "go fasta red" scheme! :woohoo: Looks like you'll be having a ball getting to know the learning curve on your new ride.

Sorry to hear about your ZZR, but at least it was a guaranteed sale!

Really wanted to stick a new tyre on the rear today, but damm public holiday!!

Any suggestions for what one?

Manual says - 110/80 V17 Front, 140/80 V17 Rear.

Does it have to be the same 'brand' as the front??? Its got 'metezler' ones on now.

Will be used mostly for commuting to CBD during the week and 3-4 a week I hit the twisties for a few hours a time. Also something that will handle the odd long distance mway trip etc.

Can you get tyres that are hard in the centre and soft and sticky on the sides?? Because that sounds like it would be perfect!

They're called dual compound, and mostly used for touring.

From experience I've had no problems with them, just have to give them a little while to warm up before getting too fresh in the corners.

Bahahahahahah

That would be an awesome service... Suzuki NZ constantly fly a 707 over NZ with a look down radar identifying the coppers, sending updates via a HUD to the riders

Well had my first 'minty moment' on it this afternoon....

Behind a car at the swanson round-a-bout, he started to pull away.. ..i looked up to check for a gap too, and began to move off, looked down and argh! he's stopped! bang on the brakes and pulled in the clutch, locked the front wheel and the revs screamed up. i stopped about an inch away from the cars bumper... :innocent: ...woah... dam those brakes are good! never locked the front before!

the bike. I have had a great deal of fun out of mine...when it hasnt been blowing a constant gale down here. I fitted mine with twin Pirelli Sports Demons and once run in, they have given the bike extremely quick 'reflexs' to avoid pot holes etc. Of course my eons of experience help too. I am selling mine but do recommend the bike as a great step up for a newbie/recent full licence rider.
