I bought this ZXR as a project bike in January, and have since realised that this year is not going to allow me much free time to ride my GSXR let alone work on a project bike, so before it becomes too tempting I am going to sell it.

So far, I have noticed that the following needs work:

1.0 The cam chain has started rattling, will need changing.
2.0 There seems to be a leak somewhere from the engine, it is hard to tell where it is coming from, I hope think it may be the tappet cover gasket.
3.0 The chain needs re-tensioning
4.0 It need rear brake pads fitted
5.0 All fairing are complete, but are pretty scratched (photos show them as better than they are) and will need to be re-painted to be look nice.

It has some nice tyres on it, GPR 80 rear and a Metzler tyre on the front, both have pretty good tread
I was going to rebuild it as a race bike and not bother about the paint.

The bike has about 41,992 kms on it. I picked it up from albany, and rode it home to my place in Howick, and aside from being a little bit sluggish, it rode fine.

I bought it for about $2000 and would like to sell it for about that much. Any questions, you are welcome to ask, viewing is fine, i am usually home from work at about 7pm.

I have a garage load of spares for the zxr's, but I plan to hang onto most of the spares as I do plan to get another ZXR at some point as a race bike. Will consder swaps, should anyone have anything.

Cheers,

Any idea how much the above work would cost?

Also does the bike have current rego/WOF?

I don't really have the funds, but I'm sure I could work something out... Sam needs a bike and shes driving me nuts always asking to ride mine...

tell sam to buy one herself... thought she didn't want a bike?

as for the parts you looking at probably $180 - $300 for the cam chain tensioner and parts (that's if it needs all new parts it could just need adjusting) rear brake pads maybe $50 on the outside, the gasket i'll need to have a look at where it's leaking etc but if ya budget for about $300 (a bit high depending on what it needs) then you should be right..

I say inclding paint etc you put $1000 -$1500 into it and she'll be a minter (if the engine is still good that is)

Sam does want a bike... but there is so much shit going on with us... trying to save for a bike for Sam, a car, and moving costs cause we're looking at moving out of Auckland (havn't decided where yet)...

We're going to work it through tonight... thanks for the estimate of $1500, that will help a lot tonight when we run through the budget :)

That estimate is if you do the work yourself... double it if you are going to "professionals" to do it..

I'll give a discount.. I promise hehehe

You could save a bit on the painting, I have used a bunch in penrose a few times, and they are very cheap but are high in quality. They did virtually a whole bike for me for $500, However they were fairings that needed a lot of prep work, but no plastics welding. These need plastic welding so add another $100 onto that.

PF - It does not have WOF or REG, but it does run...quite richly (however I looked at the carbs, and they are still in good condition, so I think it only needs a decent tune.

I will also like to look at a swap for something like a street magic or an FXR150 or RG150 or whatever, so if anyone has one...let me know.

It is on trademe, will consder swaps. I want a 400cc bike suitable for stunting, such as a cbr400 or zxr400 etc. If anyone has anything (maybe rough cosmetic condition, but good mechanically) let me know.

Cheers

Hmm, might be keen. What year, what does it need to get it running well?
