Ive been learning to ride for 6 months now and I decided that I would take my wee bike on a nice long ride to Wellington to watch the Teams stockcar champs. What a haul! I learnt that bugs guts is indeed green. I got a very good look at some bird intestines that got stuck to my visor after the car in front splattered it and no matter how much natural or artificial butt padding I had my back-side is still got sore.
I tried to tighten my chain at wellington but I made a mess of it. I was stranded in Hutt Valley on my own with a pakaroo'd chain. 1 1/2 hours I kinda waited and stressed uptill I managed to get hold of someone to come help me. Good on ya Dad! Your a trooper  So off I went on my merry way..on my own..kinda crapping myself at the enormity of riding back on my own not quite confident that dad had sorted my bike. I lost faith in him when he said "Oh a chain..I havent had to tighten one of these for 20 years" :shit:
Amongst other things, I have learnt I really really needed earplugs. And I really really really need some help learning basic motorcycle maintenance type stuff. I wouldnt hurt for me to go with someone else next time either..kinda got me wondering what would happen if I came a gutsa.
end of woffle :innocent:

Well done.........
Next time wont be so hard......... on the butt....
The more you ride your butt will get used to being in the seat for hours on end.
Sometimes thou it pays to when you refuel, go for a pitstop and a little walk to help stretch the legs etc.....

Ah... the 1st long ride. I remember it well. Even if it was many many moons ago. Its a whole lot easier from here on in. Good idea on the basic maintenance thing.
Its a great feeling of achievement completing a ride like that for the first time.
Oh BTW good write too

Do you stand up? Makes a huge difference to butt-happiness. Just stand up for a few kilometres every 50km or so. I find it also helps to "walk on the spot" on the footpegs whilst standing.

Do you stand up?
I did a couple of times. the last 200kms were the worst! I started getting cramp in my hip and found I had to stop more often. At one point it was so excruciating I nearly packed it in and booked a motel room. Trip down wasnt half as bad.

The walking on the footrests thing is good to stop the hip cramp. Its fairly normal BTW, not some weird unique to you problem. After a bit u get used to it.

Ive got a bad back as well and the ride wasnt a problem at all. I had a tiny twinge from it every now and then but nothing that really bothered me. I thought I would suffer for it today but theres no problems at all. In fact, Im as happy as a pig in poop...so happy that I might even let the bf watch golf on TV!

Well done .. awesome sounding ride .. especially on a smaller bike ... my first trip was in december and I know all about wanting to pack it in and grab a motel room .. butt aches and no fun .. . I am sure that over time things get better
