View Full Version : (09) 250/learner riders doing the westpac ride?

I was just wondering how many learners or 250'ers are going to be attending this? Some bastard who shall remain nameless decided to shed light of this astounding ride to me in the weekend and I'm pretty much 100% going.. I was just wondering if there were others of the 250 ride groups who were going. I'm scared of riding next to 1499 bikes that are more expensive than mine, I need people I trust to ride next to! :dodge:

So yeah, who's heading to it !?

Who was this aforementioned bastard?

Name him, so we can beat him senseless with loose women, and drown him in a vat of horribly expensive imported beer!

Oh, and I'll be there!

And lordy, lordy, lordy - will an electric mango square appear again on my little ol'Hornet :innocent:

But...it's for the children! Oh, the humanity of it all! :grouphug:

gosh...that seems like a lifetime and tight orifice long ago (cue : SW soundtrack ) ... just re-read that thread myself and wondered how the heck I learnt to ride a bike in the first place!

Apologies for dragging thread off topic (again...and again and...)

So...it's in Karaka as a jump off point ... now... exactly where in Karaka?

WTF does the Akl area code have to do with anything???
If the author of the thread is trying to be a smarty pants with the location of the ride then there are "Area Selection" options at the beginning of a thread creation.
I hate that radio station that say shit like.. and the weather in the "07" today is..bla bla bla.... where the fuck is the "07".. why cant they just say the Waikato or whatever??

Well I think the reason most people say it is because most people know the area codes, with all due respect I don't think 2 numbers associating to an area is hard to remember. I looked for an area selection quickly and didn't see one so I just slapped (09) at the top. I wasn't trying to be a "smarty pants".

Hardly something to get your knickers in a twist about, christ.

No - remember Speedie was born with a full licence, a big bike, full internet capabilities, experienced in computer forums and knowing how to drive an ambulance. He was never a learner at any stage of his development. He will therefore attempt to bully those that are new to something on the basis of a lack on knowledge about motorbikes or forum protocol.

the man can do no wrong and obviously is not trying to compensate for anything (like being a shortarse, having a small dick, being a closet gay or not getting any recently).

That means there will be a lot of confused riders around. There isn't a Unitec on the north shore... Mt Albert, perhaps!

Finishes at AUT Akoranga campus (north shore). Fortunately you can't miss 2000 bikes so just follow them to the finish line :)

For the noobies....... ride in stagger formation.....
and just remember to keep your hands near the brake lever... and those on two-strokes cover the clutch.

You will be riding at a very slow speed while this run is on...... usually around 40kph..... but it can get lower to 20kph is some parts. Occassionally thou it may go up to 60kph....

As you approach Wellesly St off-ramp it goes down to a single lane...... so it does get a tad crunched in that area..... so please take it real easy.
All the city riding is really slow...... so again take it easy....

Sometimes the speed gets up for a little bit and then all of a sudden we come to a stop.....

Just ride safely............ and keeps an eye out for other riders.

If in doubt of how safe you feel then do ride at the rear of all the bikes riding.......
(lots of HOGS ride at the rear of the pack)
As you come along the motorway..... you get to see a awesome sight...... thousands of bikes ahead of you....

Please ride safe....... and enjoy yourself out there riding with so many bikes.

Just dont be silly and try to do wheelies or stoppies.... this is a organised ride so behave....

As noobies this will be a first to ride with so many bikes around you...
so at the beginning as you get on your bike and put on your helmet and gloves etc. take a few deep breathes in and breathe out.... at the start is very slow as everyone is trying to get their place in the run.... so sit back and wait until the way is clear.

You noobies will be fine.

Oh one little hint...... dont sit too close to the rider in front of you... allow them some space in case they have to stop suddenly.

If a rider holds their LEFT hand up..... it means get ready to stop.....
as traffic is coming to a holt on the motorway.

It's up to you guys eh, but it's a slow ride, and you could always group up and make sure you give each other enough room, I doubt it'll be a problem.

Just a note that McJim and Chickadee won't be there after all so don't hang about waiting for us anywhere!

Enjoy yourselves and don't run into the rider in front. (And trust the rider behind to do the same!)

Is this the Scottish Rider That Shall Not Be Named freeing us from his zone of influence? 'Tis a charitable and most hospitable boon you have given us!

We will ride in honour of your gift and pay it forward!
