Same thing happened about 6-12 months back by my memory, once these scum realise there's a loophole they can exploit they'll go for it. The last one was a guy who had just parked up his scooter and someone stole it right in front of the cop, again, wouldn't do anything and ended up in the papers.

I'd be surprised if these two hadn't read the first report and decided to give it a go themselves.

Then there was the other classic, when a kid had his bike stolen, someone spotted it and told him where it was, they told the police who advised to go round there and steal it back, but don't get involved in any violence!

Excuse me, as someone else said here, aren't the police supposed to care for the victim, not worry about the criminal? Break the law, steal a bike and fall off and hurt yourself when being pursued? Goes with the territory if you ask me.

Yeah that's the next step. If the police aren't prepared to chase them, the victims will decide to chase them instead. And we all know that's likely to end in carnage for the crims, the person chasing them and anyone else unfortunate enough to get in the way. Wouldn't it just be simpler if those trained in pursuit went ahead and did their job?
