Well the weather looks like it should be good,a few bikes going so far-but a few more tagging along would be good.

Would have been real keen otherwise, not doing enough out of town jaunts at the moment. I'll look out for other weekends rides.

What would be an ETA for getting back into Chch?

Do people normally pack their own sandwiches & bottled water or do the whole expensive eat in coffee shop thing?
Each to their own I'm guessing

You can take stuff with you as not everyone can afford to buy there lunch on all the rides. My big mortgage hinders me at times(or is it my wife?)
Time wise it could be 3 or 4pm or later depending on wether everyone is having a good time.Hope to see you there.

Just thought I would poke me nose in, I am tentatively gonna say that I will be there. I have somthing else that I have io be at first thing in the morning, but if that goes to plan, should be able to fit the ride in nicely.

Was a great day for the ride, the turn out of bikes was bigger than i expected.FLYINGPONY was there on his FXR150 good on ya for mixing it with the big boys - but i think your bike needs a few more steriods to match it with them. But at least you came out and hopefully you enjoyed your ride.
Was good to meet some new faces.Pity the traffic was so heavy but thats what happens on a public holiday.Still an enjoyable day.Cheers for all that went.

Cheers cheers, bloody good day and ride, awesome so many bikes turned up, great to put some faces on faces and on bikes. I have remembered a couple of names, but no doubt some will disapear before the next run.
Good drink and feed a Bully Hays, though realy I only had a cake and coffee, but the food that others consumed looked fine!

:Punk: Awesome, it all certainly took away some of the stress's from the last week.

Went on my first KB ride today and also took the bike for its first time beyond the city limits :innocent:

It was a very nice ride and so was the company. Learned a lot about myself, my bike and found the road to be challenging for a novice tourer.

Got given a 5-minute head start leaving Akaroa. Managed to get halfway up the big hill before the first bike caught up. Heard him before I saw him on this longish straight, went something like VVVEEEERRRROOOOMMMMM and I was a mere speck in his mirror in a matter of seconds, a rather typical scenario.

So what I've learned:

Kneed-It is a handy product to carry (saw another bike getting some on-the-spot repairs)
More power would come in very handy for overtaking cages on the flats but generally there's more than enough to overtake them on the hills :)
Need way more power to keep up with the big boys
Might need to carry earplugs - lots of wind noise
Centrifugal forces at 90km/hr when trying to make more space for a box suddenly falling off :gob: the trailer in front, is high, but counter steering does work
Following distance was probably too close to cages at times
Having leather gear and a quieter helmet would be really nice
Need to improve my downhill cornering skill
That was fun

Special thanks to 200BUSA for staying with me at my relatively spoken :scooter: speed.

Comments regarding my ride style welcome via PM, thanks
