Wow, very sweet ride! Nothing like a race-rep 2 stroke 250 to get the blood flowing. Enjoy. Now you need the HRC swipe ignition card.

Oh yeah, get rid of the truck sized indicators as soon as!

Storage for two years? I'm thinking crank seals might be a little brittle, AFAIK they should soften up again with gentle use. Use a high quality modern (2005-2006) fully synthetic oil (Motul 710 is good).

Other than that, enjoy :)

mm very nice, jealous = me
could I be cheeky & ask how much you payed for it?

2nd February 2007, 20:14

That bike is the shit mate! Really hot. Totally jealous.

hurricane_r
2nd February 2007, 21:18
thanks, yea a fair price is organised, but its not over-the-top for one in this condition, hrc card?

its not that simple, apparently u need hrc looming, and u cant use ur lights / indicators etc, and u gain only few hp, u can aparently de-rescrict them to 75hp+ but the right work needs to be done buy nsr specalists,

thats wat i read on a nsr site anyway* not my own words,,

the mc28 is the hardest to manipulate for power (apparently)
cause of there advanced ignition system (apparently)

bad luck from quotes in past,,hence the *apparently* used alot ,,

2nd February 2007, 21:27
Might as well ride without your licence - you'll lose it in about 5 minutes on that bike! Nice.

Have fun - don't break it.

2nd February 2007, 21:44
What McJim said. Have fun, don't break it! It's a lovely looking machine. Saw it on trademe as well and was tempted. Glad it's going to another KBer! Am also curious as to how much you ended up paying for it... but only if you're willing to divulge.

Nice going. Make sure you look after it, they're getting rare.

2nd February 2007, 22:58
il talk about that when its in my garage on monday,,,,,,,

i will take care of it, i still got my ruthless mc19 to thrash around this is going to be my little minter,,, oh man, i wont be able to sleep until i get it, and prolly not for sevral months / years afterward, my parents arnt happy :D, as usal, remeber the look when i bought a bike just after they said *if you buy a bike you can move out* :D, scared them shitless, fair enough too

Mr. Peanut
2nd February 2007, 23:00
If it's a stocker you're looking at about 41hp at the wheels, but plenty of torque :)

Switch
2nd February 2007, 23:03
Wicked dude, Looks like an awesome bike :first:

KLOWN
2nd February 2007, 23:04
I was gonna buy one of them for my first bike until my mate talked me out of it, which was probably a good idea cause I like to open the throttle. I am DEFINATLEY going to get one of those or an aprillia 250rs before I die.

ps. NICE bike

3rd February 2007, 01:32
yeh i love!! the rs250 as well, but i like prestiege, the rs250 has it, but when i seen this on TM i had to go straight to the bank!, something special this has, something that tickles my funny button,,,,and when i heard a while back about the mc28's and there swipe card ignition thingy, i always thought, *that would be so awesome* yup well im up all night, cant sleep *for obvious reasons,

Ive seen this bike in the flesh and its awesome, love the single sided swing arm... I learnt to ride on an MC18 NSR
Shame you dont have the HRC card tho.. Ive gotta feeling you are going to be heavily restricted, less of a powerband, wont go above 10,000 revs and wont pull the front wheel up in first..
I know you lose your lights and indicators with the card but you should try get your hands on it...

3rd February 2007, 17:42
Love the bike, I wanted one of the NSRs but could only afford a RGV. One question...a dumbarse question...what is swipe card ignition. I gather you have a card the size of a credit card and they acts as a key but tells the ECU what fuel maps and ignition timing to use? Do these cards cost alot of money and are they coded to only one bike or do you still need the normal key to turn it on?

Very interesting technology!

hurricane_r
3rd February 2007, 22:59
yeh most ppl just say *you should get the card*]

little do they no the bike wont run off a hrc card,
it requires hrc looming, and the cards dont add much hp (2-4hp)
there for wet / dry / and balanced setups.

this is wat i read on a nsr site,,

so yeh i dont want it directly for the power

and yes it will pull up in first gear,

jade
4th February 2007, 09:27
Im under the impression ud be restricted to 45hp, 65 with the card.. I could be wrong

nsrpaul

Im under the impression ud be restricted to 45hp, 65 with the card.. I could be wrong

post 94 models are`restricted to 40hp, the card alone wont getit to 65hp, will need pipes, airbox mods, etc
wicked bikes, even standard

Steve Gauge
4th February 2007, 21:10
I had a nsr mc21 , with pipes , open airbox , spliced wires from cdi and hrc carb kit , and dynoed it 54hp I dont think you can get any more out of them with out rs bits in them , I think youd be pushing to get this upto 65 hp , still love it ,wanted it ,sad to see it sold , leave it standard put in a plastic bag and leave it in your garage for ten years awsome bike man

Noice noice!!

Welcome to the not-so-common Honda club. May your servicing costs be astronomical and your wait for parts long and expensive... :)

hurricane_r
5th February 2007, 07:46
why thank you,,,,, yeh i see ur got a rvf. heard about them and parts eh, still, comes with the teritory eh?

5th February 2007, 08:54
Very nice...
I moved from MC19 to MC28 as well so I know how you feel. LOL.

The NSR feels like a push bike (no weight at all).

When you get it and had a chance to ride it, can you tell me if you experience any flat spot at around 5 - 6k?

mynameis
5th February 2007, 10:55
Congrats Rod!

Nice one brothers, now I wana see you smash the 250 record of all times at Puke perhaps get a 1.10 or less at Puke eh??

And don't upgrade before you tell everyone in NZ you're the undisputed 250 champ! All the best with it bro.

Catch up!

hurricane_r

its officaly bike #222 of 1000 made ,

that makes it a pretty damn rare bike,,

McJim
5th February 2007, 21:13
Also given the fact that 80% of them will end up written off by squids - it's probably rarer than you think!

hurricane_r

Hey dood,

If it's got GPR 80's on them, it's more than likely it's the same tyre from Japan, from memory Dunlop never got them here in NZ and if that's the case check the tyre properly for cracks and also check for production date.

If it's four years old get rid of them they have Dunlop GPR 70 and 100's replacement now it's called Dunlop A010 and apparently they are the shit better than GPR 70's.

You don't want your tyre to shit out and cause a bin in that beautiful machine! Get insurance too boy!!

Please don't fit neons, it's a long drive to Auckland to choke the crap out of you  Stab marmoot in the neck with a pen for suggesting it when you see him next

Coyote
6th February 2007, 16:43
I like the neons in those pics. Looks like the engine is violently hot and glowing

Getting a TYGA big bore kit? I would if I had an NSR, although I'd probably only be able to afford the MC21

Mr. Peanut
6th February 2007, 18:36
Only the MC21? It's the purists machine man, that was the model that entered the realm of perfection.

The single sided swingarm is heavy and the bike is difficult to get power out of.

i know this already, its one of the slowest ,
the weight of the arm . will be made up with riders wieght,
and the bike can make 75hp+ if derestricted properly, anyway

im not fused on ruining it for power, its nice as it is, and its a rare bike that holds prestiege,, *you know wat that is?,

im sure the mc21 is a nice bike also, and faster and lighter, but i got the bike i want and thats that, is that ok with you? thanks * oh yea i swipe a card , you turn a key, * sorry had to add that

Don't get upset, he was referring to Coyote's comment (`I'd only be able to afford an MC21').

Both are seriously cool bikes -- but once you get into MC21 vs. MC28, it's kind of like rich old men arguing over who makes the best Pinot Noir.
