View Full Version : Inactive KB profiles?

There are 6041 KB member profiles (at time of posting), but over half have 2 posts or less - 3035 profiles to be exact. Most haven't visited the site for quite a long time. There are profiles there that were created in 2005 or even earlier, that have zero posts and have not visited the site in a long time, according to their profiles. Was just wondering if there were any plans to delete profiles that:

a) Have been inactive over a year, or
b) Are still on 0 posts after having registered over three months ago?

Just wondered. Some new members who would participate might not be able to get the username they wanted because of some ancient, never used profile getting in the way. Okay, so it's only a username. Still, if the profiles take up space for the site, it makes sense. Maybe it could be put into the terms and conditions of being a member that if you don't make a post within a few months of joining, your profile will be erased, or if you've made under 500 posts (just say) but haven't visited the site for a year, again, your profile will be erased.

People join a web forum to participate. Seems pointless to join and not participate.

Thoughts?

People join to participate or to read. I know members who have not posted much who are quite active on site - they read and go on rides and the like.

Pays to also look at their last activity as a lot don't post that often but still check in from time to time. I myself see no need to delete any members from the list.

About twice a year I will delete logins where the last visit date is older than 6 months and the post count is zero.

If a member has a particular reason for wanting a login name that is already taken, I could be persuaded to give it to them if the existing login has not been used for more than a year and only has a few posts.

I want the log in White Trash.

That fag don't come around here no more and I'm more trailer park than he is.

He doesn't even beat his missus.

I don't read often, and post even less, but when I need info or insight, I'm glad I can find it here. I guess I'm one of the many that rarely log on, but when I do, I appreciate being able to!

I heartily agreee with re-assigning a user name in demand to someone who will get the best use out of it Good thinking!

alarumba is available now. Any takers?

I often thought it'd be a good idea to get rid of the inactive accounts. Although 500 posts in a year is a bit much. You've got to have no life to post anymore than that
