ordinary auto trans fluid like a car uses, id reccommend changing it every 15 hours tops

edit- i just read in my book what honda reccommends:

every 7.5 hours, but then they want me to replace the piston every 7.5 hours too!!
apparently your supposed to use "only high detergent, premium quality motor oil meeting or exceeding api SE,SFor SG, reccommended viscosity is 10-w40

cant remember who told me to use ATF, but its workd mint for the last 12 years for me!

Yeah I run Spectro Clutch saver,
Thats in a 1996 Honda RS125 GP bike
In the HRC Manual Honda say to run Honda 4 stroke engine oil and thats in a 2 stroke.

Motul transmission fluid when i had my KX250. Changed after about five racemeets. I would always change it if it had been raining, as i was advised that a when water hits a hot engine it will pull the water through the seals, such as the shifter seal.
I also was informed that proper motorcycle tranny fluids contain an ingrediant that cares for the clutch also.

Motul transoil in most and Dextron 3 ATF in my TM. Avoid car oils as they have friction modifiers in them that may not agree with your clutch, and change it after every ride.

What he said ^^^^^^^^^ Motul Transoil.

I change mine approx every five hours, rather do it more often and its not like its expensive

Australasian dirt bike said in a 2 stroke you want an oil with a low weight (10W-20W) because 2 strokes don't want so much resistance in the gearbox. On a race bike you should have about 10W so long as you replace it regulary, and a commuter it's best to have 20W so it doesn't break down quickly. The RG is currently on 20W/40. $13 bucks for 4 litres from supercheap. Only the finest :p

Use trans oil specifically for 2 strokes. If you use the clutch a lot in the tight stuff, change it more frequently. It's bits of clutch plate as they wear that contaminates the oil. Pro class riders on 2 stroke MXers that clutch out of corners a lot will change oil between motos. Fresh oil makes your clutch more predictable.
