:nono:
but it's the best honda ever made (well apart from the rc30)

but seriously I need to sell this rather urgently to buy a wagon for my new job, so please if you're considering one of these make me a good honest offer and i'll get back to you

If you're looking for an urgent sale, I'm sorry, but the price is just too high for an NC30. There are an awful lot of them available on trademe (granted yours is the only one in shiny shiny black :niceone:), and if you want to sell it in any kind of hurry you'll have to compete on price with the others. The others have lower kms than yours, and look stock, which people like.

Sorry dude, not beating up on your bike or anything, I love NC30s - I'd happily tell you to look the other way while I made off with it... :chase:
Good luck with the sale all the same.

5k is a lot for a crashed 400. But they're a nice model, someone will buy it, you'll just need to be patient. It sickens me that people will pay $6500 for a 1990 CBR250R (go Trevor Pierce ), and not $5000 for that!

not so much a crash as a long slide, no structural damage, but I've replaced every peice of fairing and it looks straight as new

You know what I mean though... if you're looking for one of those, a nice mint factory one is what you're generally looking for.

Is it UK spec?

gamgee
21st February 2007, 20:22
it was imported from japan in 1993 so I don't think so, how would I find out? actually from memory I think most of our nc30's are grey imports same with the UK, and genuine "UK spec" bikes are extremely rare, I'm not sure if it's restricted to 180 or not either, why did you need to know if it was UK spec?

gamgee
21st February 2007, 20:26
just checked it out, and yes, i'm pretty sure it's a grey import, but I don't see what difference this will make to you

gamgee
21st February 2007, 20:30
oh I also still have the stock exhaust if the buyer is interested

coz they have more HP (bigger carbs), no restriction and 240km speedo

gamgee
22nd February 2007, 05:46
they don't have more hp, the only diff is they aren't restricted to 180, I doubt you'll find a genuine UK import in NZ

5-6hp? sounds like a guess to me which means it's probably crap, the only power difference I've heard of is between the nc30 and nc35, the nc35 was restricted due to jap power restrictions

hazzy
22nd February 2007, 18:10
up the top right:

Power: 59hp @ 12500rpm (Euro spec 65hp)

gamgee
22nd February 2007, 18:24
ahhh well, I've got a guy coming down tomorrow night, bringing money, and most likely buying my bike for the above asking price, so looks like i'm gonna be waving goodbye to the best bike I've ever ridden tomorrow night

imdying
22nd February 2007, 18:51
I wonder which ones are the 'later models' then? 1990 was the first year for the NC30, safe to assume all 1990 NC30s are 65bhp then?

Later models were restricted by power, with 59 PS (44 kW) being the limit for 400cc motorcycles, but this kind of restriction generally requires much more difficult power-increasing techniques to circumvent.

The NC35 (RVF400) has slightly smaller carbs (1mm IIRC), perhaps those are the later models they speak of?

thats what I thought but can't really be bothered arguing about it...

Looks like your dearly beloved is back on trademe due to the buyer having "two near misses". What a waste.

Guess she might be doing the rounds in Christchurch for a while!

Ahahah, what a pussy.

On another note... I saw a black NC30 parked on the side of Strowan road, Friday I think... instantly thought of yours, although this one had a big white spider graphic on the side. Didn't look half as ghey as that sounds!

yeah I was looking at that one a while ago, the worst part is it was raced for the first 4500km, plus I wouldn't trust the milage on that, those were the main things that put me off buying that one originally

nothing that I know about, but, as you say, something could have happened on the way back, but he never said anything, and i've been in regular contact with him until yesterday
60,000km is nothing for one of these engines, they'll go to well over 100,000 i've even seen one still running fine at 120,000

if it was regulary serviced, always garaged never dropped etc

dunno, that one with 120,000km sold for about $2000 or it might have been $2500 can't remember, it was about 6 months ago, it was at least $2000 tho

Yep, thats right, I bought it yesterday. Pity you didn't finish the 'project' off though, warped discs and needs a new front tyre. plus I don't know what you did to the forks but they are sagging alot and even bottoming out (strange ho this is doing it with supposed 15w oil in). For an NC30 this is not a very nice setup but shouldn't take much to fix it. Otherwise its a nice quick bike. Haven't ridden anything like it. Nice paint job and don't know if you did the fibre glassing on the fairing but its good too. I guess I probably wouldn't have it if it didn't have the flaws :D
