interesting question here --what is a realistic normal human reaction time?
I just fluked a .16 but Im consistantly doing 0.27

I remember from some science tests that it depends on the stimulus. For example this test is testing your reaction time from when you see somthing. The time would be quite different if the reaction was to click when you heard, or felt something.
Not that this answers your question at all! But interesting all the same!

I kept getting 0.21-0.24. I'm on the second glass of whisky, though.
I remember a quarter of a second being the average time for most individuals to pull a pistol trigger on a pop-out target. Can't remember where I got the figure.

Most traffic-type studies suggest real-world reaction time of around 1 second. Hence the "two second rule" for following distances - 1 second to wake up and 1 second to avoid the vehicle in front.

.261 about 10 times in a row. that's 10.6 metres at 100km/h before you've realised the change, another .261 sec to react, another 10.6 metres.....shit, that cow/tractor/pajero's coming up fast....

I remember watching this show, can't remember what it was called, hosted by Jeremy Clarkson (but I didn't hold that against it). The subject matter IIRC delt with among other things reaction times of motorsports people, and the false view that because of the speed etc involved these guys must have super human reaction times.
Clarkson at one point was playing the hand slap game with Michael Schummacher. What it showed was that these guys have in general very average reaction times. There super-human like skill doesn't require reactions. They are able to do what they do via second nature, therefore think about things like where they are on the track, race stratigies, etc.
I think you'll find what seperates the Rossi's of the world from the rest of us is, we rely on reaction times to get ourselves out of situations, where as they (through natural skill, and or training) have already reacted instictually before having to conciously think of what to do.

3 times at .297 and one at .089 but that was anticipation. I'm happy with that after 2 beers.

Kinda Like muscle memory aye?
Those hard out martial artists are so quick cos they train and train and it becomes muscle memory.
'edit' don't know why I said martial artists, just first thing that came to mind.

Yea i saw that, very interesting, he was saying that they had superior processing capability i think, they could process the info they heard/saw/felt faster than most people.
Reaction times depend on the state of mind, adrenaline also heightens ones senses.

I got 0.3 quite a lot.
Another thing with top riders/drivers is their vision, they seem to be able to pick up details that us 'humans' would miss. I recall an article where someone was driving with Kenny Roberts (Senior) and they passed a poppy field - most of us would see a field of flowers, Roberts was able to assimilate the information and count how many flowers were there.
Of course, the more time you spend at speed, the easier it is to pick up details when you are going more slowly. So with these guys doing 200mph, everything else must seem to be in slow-motion!

.24 best but often 029 or so, got worst results with my left hand (I'm left handed) but as most 'puter desks are set out for right handers I usually use my right hand on the mouse.
Oh, I'd also been out of bed since 0700, been to f'arms training and since had a bottle of wine!!

Best was a 0.250, fell alseep a couple of times. TL riders dont' have to worry bout cows or smaller cars anyway, a TL kinda just mows them down, the tractor on the otherhand................ i better get practising me thinks

Normally around .26-2.8, but with some freak of nature twitch-click at 0.016 seconds. Couldn't repeat that effort if I tried...

And thats while you expecting / waiting for something to happen, its different obviously when it happens out of the blue.
Mine was consistantly 0.25 - 0.28.

First go 12.64secs, jumped that much I slide the mouse across and it never clicked off the timer.
After that regular .24's and .28.. Also saw that programme about reaction time and racing drivers and they did stress it was the process ability and not reaction time that was the difference.

Yeah well, last drag-meet I was at I had a 1.43 sec reaction one time, obviously something not right with their $30,000 timing system, I KNOW I was like .08 or better in my reactions
