Just FYI - it's a 2003 so if that's too old for you you might want to keep looking. Don't want you hanging on unnecessarily if it's not for you.

Should be ready before the end of Feb - will send you a PM nearer the time.

2003 sounds fine to me. MY BHS is scheduled for Feb 18th, and I am currently looking at a new VTR250, so who knows maybe it'll all work out. If not no worries.

VTR is a great choice and The Scottish Rider's bike is a good, well-maintained example :)

Absolutely no hard feelings if you buy someone elses dude - the great thing about a VTR250 is there is NO problem selling one. Which is comforting for you when you buy one too!

Cool one way of the other I must own a VTR250..... I know I'll have the bike for awhile and my wife wants to learn as well. I could get a GN250 for less than half, but I sat on a VTR the other day and just can't get the thing out of my head!

Huge differences in handling, braking and when you twist your wrist - it's not just the riding position. As I said before though - if you can get a VTR for a good price (i.e. less than $6,000) but you have the budget for a brand new one then you could do a lot worse than spend the spare $2,000+ on a FXR150 for your wife.

You would regret it, if you did. The VTR is the right way to go.

I was going to buy a GN250 as well but as soon as I rode the VTR I knew it was the right bike for me.

No offence to GN owners but I simply would not be enjoying my biking as much on a GN and would not be able to do the long(er) type trips on the open road.

Buy a VTR - they even let you ride them home after sliding down the road :)

What he and McJim said. They're excellent learners bikes.... and probably good commuters too. Botany Honda are trading one in this week... (on a new Fireblade... so it's probably quite new). And it's true about the resale and ease of sale too

I really liked the one I took out for a test ride - felt confidence-inspiring (a good thing for an I-know-nothing learner like me) but also like it had a lot more to it and wouldn't be a bike you grew out of too fast. And positive instead of sort of soft or wallowy, but without being sort of edgy or meaning I had to worry about what it was up to all the time. So I could concentrate on what all those other retarded road-users were up to instead :) All in all my favourite test ride so far!

Anyone thinking of upgrading from a fairly sound mostly-looked-after VTR around Wellington / lower NI soon? I promise to offer it a good home :)

Drat!

Went to the local dealer to kill some time today. Sat on a VTR and my feet barely and just barely touched the ground. I'm 5'8" but have short legs. It didn't actually feel very comfortable, which stinks because I have been dreaming of a VTR

Anyone selling a VTR with platform shoes?

I would have thought your height was perfect for the VTR. McJim and I are both just over 6 foot and the VTR is too small for us.

I guess hte most important thing is to be comfortable.

Sales guy said the same thing, I must have really little legs.... Oh well I'll check a couple other bikes, then back on the VTR again tomorrow. Maybe I can stretch my legs somehow..

Wasn't there a medievil torture device that did that?

I'm only 5ft 6 and was fine on mine.... are you/they sure nobody's wound up the preload on that bike? Was it new?

I'm sure if you offer McJim a good price for his bike, he will be more than happy to do any neccessary surgery as a free extra :)

We are confused.

My missus is 5'7" and can touch the ground easily with her legs bent on the VTR. (the reason she rides a RG150 is because she likes the racing position. the full fairing and the extre 5 hp!)

She suggested you come round and sit on mine to see what you think (although mine is really mucky and not in a good condition to be seen by a potential customer at the moment!) the suspension has at least been worn in a bit so might seem lower.

Otherwise there are other bikes worth trying - GPX250 for example.

I'm confused too,

By all accounts its the perfect bike. Also should be right on for my size.....

Feet couldnt even touch the ground though. Ill try a different bike, somewhere else. Just can't think why........

I'm going with it being some sort of weird phenomenon. Won't sway me on my quest for a VTR :)

And best off, of all the bikes my wife and I have looked at she really wants a GN250. Who am I to argue that! I get a VTR and she is happy with the GN
