View Full Version : What is your total mileage on two wheels ? (guess if necessary)

Don't think this question ahs ever been polled , oddly. A search didn't find it, though it's rather hard to search for. Anyway, if it has been done it would be some time ago and out of date.
So, how many kilometres have you ridden , in total. Two or three wheels only, 4 wheels and more don't count. Obviously some folk will long since have lost count and will have to estimate. In total means in total, those who have had a break add things together.
POWERED VEHICLES ONLY. Roller skates and treadleys don't count.

What about one wheel? :innocent:
About 11000km

Not very far. Not very far at all. Under 5000km. I plan to address this deficiency.

Unicycles count double. Bicycles without mtrs don't count. And you forgot to vote, silly.

This poll highlights the fact that I really don't get out much...

I dont really care......would need an Abacus to work it out, numbers was never a strong point while growing up....

Sigh. Goes to show. I thought the "too silly to work it out" option was just for giggles. Seems not.
Big question - who will top the million mark? I'm sure someone will.

So, take your annual mileage and multiply by 20.

I did, and I meant wheelies. That makes it 11002.

Well I've done about 200,000km on bicycles don't now if mtr means motor or meter - in which case the bike did have a meter (distance measuring device) and had me as a motor.
Only been on the bike 8 months or so therefore my paltry 15,000km doesn't really count.

So far about 29,000

I can't remeber all the mileages that each bike I've ever owned has done, but adding the road bikes I've owned from new comes to a bit over 330000 km. I can only guess that there may be around another 100000 - 150000 on bikes that were second hand and/or dirt bikes. I have currently just clocked over 12000 km in the last 6 months, and I've been rining for 37 years. :scooter:
Some years I've done more than others, but overall I'd guess at around 500000 km or just under.

I wouldn't have a clue as I've never recorded any mileage,a lot of my bikes never had speedos,I had the XS1 15 years and the odo stayed on 29,000km the whole time.If I said 10,000km a year that would make 370,000km.....so it could be rounded up to 400,000km.

Started riding at the end of August of last year....and have just done a shade over 30,000km to date - can't get enough of it! A slight hiccup in the works due to me binning it :o  will mean I will be doing the basics again and working back up to my longish sojourns :innocent:
Glad to see people enjoying their biking, regardless of milage, time and circumstances!

Over 1,000,000 km.
35 years riding.
In a two year period in the 90's over 300,000 miles.
Lost count of how many bikes over this time.

Small point - can you re-run this with the comma separators in the numbers - I suspect some have been misread... (Keystone done more than 500,000?)
No offence Jill, but unless you've been really racking them up somewhere...
I see a few other names I don't believe the totals against too...

7th February 2007, 08:15
so I have to convert miles to kms first....denominator, carry the one, numerator guess milage, add kilomileage, divide by the universal constant (einsteins biggest regret, which turned out to be correct as it happened, not that he knows that).
Wow that doesn't look right at all, ooops speedo cables loose, let start again.....
Oi, wheres the option for 'what is the point of this pissing contest?'

Is that in NZ or does overseas count as well, cos some of those were measured in miles..

Good poll mate, educational. I estimate somewhere in the vicinity of 375,000kms over the time I have been riding.

Hard to say, but I've owned 20 bikes in 30+ years of riding.
My XJ650 did 80,000km before being sold, and my GPz600 had about 60,000km on the clock when it was sold but I was second owner, only did about 40,000km of those. They were racked up pretty fast, 1000km per week commuting from Levin to Welly daily. So seem to average about 10,000 - 15,000km per year - must be around 300,000 to 450,000km total. Still doing around 200km week on my scooter just commuting to work here locally, plus any extra miles I do on my roadbike for fun on the weekends.

It's a bit of a stab in the dark, but I'm guessing slightly over 200,000, but probably not more than 250,000.
I doubt anyone has kept a log, and for most people it would vary from year to year, based on distance to your job, amount of holidays away taken, time spent not riding (such as between bikes, while abroad, or time spent licenceless). Also very hard to gauge off road k's, or k's clocked up on someone elses bike.
But still, the guess above is about as accurate as it will get for me I'm afraid.
What?
7th February 2007, 11:11
My one-bit brain (which is reputedly worth two bits) is guesstimating something in the vicinity of half a million kilowhojits. Or, for SPman, abart three undred tharsand moiles.

Sigh. Goes to show. I thought the "too silly to work it out" option was just for giggles. Seems not.
I was going to put some totally bogus guesstimate in, then realised I haven't a clue, so that was the nearest option.
I can tell you what the approximate kilometreage of my last few bikes was when I sold/traded/wrecked them, but then again I can't remember what the initial figure was, so ????

Do what I did and just guess your yearly mileage, times years. Some years I may do less than 2,000km,some over 20,000km,so I reckon 10,000km per year is close enough.
Ixion
7th February 2007, 12:02
Thaz why the higher numbers are in steps of half a million K or so. I have no idea what individual bikes were. But thinking back over the years I found it not hard to do a "Well, from then to then , I musta done X km a year. And from 19xx to 19xx I only did about Y km a year" and so on. Not at all ACCURATE but it's not too hard to get within quarter of a million K !

Perhaps the poll should be like: KM travelled / years of bike ownership?

For the wholly misguided purpose of trying to impress the next traffic cop to pull me over with my long history of safe riding/driving, I not long ago worked out roughly how many kms I've done in total (2 wheels + 4). While I have had to resort to inspired guesswork at times, I have a fairly clear idea of the mileage I've clocked up in my own vehicles and in company vehicles (I was a sales rep for 4 years and remember clocking up 150,000 km within 18 months in a brand new Telstar) - total comes to about 1.4 million km over 40 years. Unfortunately because of a long gap between bikes most of that was in cars. But I'm making up for it now.

Dam, will have to find all my ownership papers for this.
Looked for reg plate no's of my other bikes in my pic's of them. Didn't find any showing the reg's, but did find this:

I have been riding for 56 years, only did about 6000 last year as I am 76 years old, but even at that rate
56 x 6000 = 336,000

Only been riding since mid-2003. Bugger all km's really and far too many bikes. About 7,000 to 8,000kms total maybe. The rate I am going this year on my new bike - which I am much happier on - I should double that total by Christmas. I'm more the social casual rider when I can get the time to get out for a cruise.

250,000 odd kms on the bikes currently in the shed and about another 100,000 odd kms on others I've had over the years. Been riding my own bikes since about 1978.
