Cat kills dog.

I had an unpleasant sight as I walked out the front door this morning - the neighbours dog was hanging over the tall fence with his chain around his neck,karked.I just left him hanging there,it's better they find him like that than me cut him down and bang on their door with a dead dog at 6.00am.

I had a restless night sleeping on the couch and heard nothing...my 2 male kittens are being neuterd today,and as they can't have food were kept inside.They are house trained,but have been living outside for the last 2 months,so I was a bit concerned if they remembed what to do with a dirt box.I caught one of them scratching up the baby changing blanket just in time and he did a big smell bomb in the kitty litter.I was woken all night with them running around and walking all over me....didn't hear no dog barking.

My daughters dog has a few barking conversations with the neighbours dog,but he sleeps with my daughter and her baby in the caravan on the otherside of the house.That just leaves M the mother cat wandering around the section in the night.She is one hell of a capable cat and has no fear of dogs...she stalks them.She would of been looking for her lost kittens last night....maybe she thought next doors dog had something to do with her missing boys - payback time.

My wife said she heard some scratching at about 5.00am and put her head out the window to look but saw nothing......and the dog was quietly hanging it self 6 metres away.

I just remembered that I thought I heard a car around that time - I was wondering if it was a car idling or rain,but figured it was a car idling as it stopped suddenly.Ooops....sorry pooch.

Our neighbours Boxer did that. It was a bit challenged in the thinking stakes so it was no great shock to us but they were pretty upset.

thats pretty sad... animal suicide... Sam reckons thier pet jack russell drowned itself, was always scared of water and one day it just ran and jumped onto the river on thier section... and drown... very strange

He did kill himself,but not suicide....I don't think it was in the plan to get hung.Now they will get something bigger and noisier and more aggressive.It wasn't too much of a problem,just when my daughter came down with her dumb dog there was some territory to sort out.

Just my daughter at home and she really doesn't want to walk past it to go and tell them....she'll ring directory to get their number.

Your comment about your fearless cat is interesting. We used to have a black Persian tom that was 6 kg of solid muscle. A neighbour down the street had a German Shepherd that used to occasionally jump the fence and go for a walk. One day, we saw our cat watching it and as the dog approached, it jumped out of the shrubbery, leaped on the dog's back and attacked it! Dog did a runner and whenever it came past on subsequent occasions, it was always on the other side of the road!

Yep little JB junior cat doesnt seem too concerned with dogs, will be interesting whos chasing who when he gets to his predicted full size of 13Kgs and a meter or so long

She has kittens so is very protective....but I've never seen such a tough cool calm and collected cat.She has my daughters sheperd/blue healer completelly under her paw - one day when he was on his long chain she just walked towards him and he backed away until he was at the limit of his chain,then she just sat there for 5 minutes looking at him.Finally she leaped and layed into him....then just strolled away.All the animals get on well,but the cats certainly have the upper hand.Last night I heard some barking around the other side of the house and I was on the back porch - M raced off around the side of the house towards the barking,I could just see her thinking...''Shit,Max is in trouble,I better go and help him out!''

We don't get on that well with the neighbours,but we talk sometimes and they are impressed with what we have done with the house.No agro unless they play the car stereos to loud and my wife goes and yells at them.They probably just looked out the door and saw he wasn't there,and figured he might of just gone off to attack some sheep and will be back later.

My cat when I was a youngster was about 6kg and the neighbour's pig dog came nosing around one day while he was sunning himself on the top step about 2m up. One flying leap onto the dogs neck and the dog took off lioke he'd been stung! Never came around again, but my oldest sister wound up marrying the neighbour...:mellow:

My other sister's cat was also big and muscley, used to hide up the Camphor tree and ambush the Possums! Incredible fights!:yes:

Our dogs are not on ropes/chains... they have free reign around property (all fenced)...

However... if one was to tie their dog up... would you not ensure that the rope/chain wasnt long enough for that to happen??...

My wussy little cat killed the next door neighbours un-neutered cat which has been spraying in our kitchen and garage for years. We've whinged about it for ages, but they've done nothing.

Our cat finally had enough of being bullied and ripped the next door neighbours cat's throat out. Chin to Sternum.

Hey Edbear, to borrow from Gixxer parlance, he is “the King of Cats” aka Maine Coon. His particular line has been bred for large size and thankfully even temperament. He is 14 months old and weighs about 8kg. They are slow growing compared to regular cats and he will not fully mature for about 3 years. Males average about 10Kg and up to 15Kg is not uncommon. Add a long winter coat, feral looks, paws like the feet of a five year old kid and most people won’t go near them. His “father” was just over 10Kg at 18 months old. Gentle giants really. He doesnt give a rats about other cats, they tend to stay out of his way now.

We didn’t get him from here but he is just bit smaller than this older cat shown:

Well that was good of ya neighbour to give the dog enough chain to hang himself with.Unfortunately dogs dont think like we do and don't usually realise that jumping the fence witha chain around ya necks not so smart till they're gagging to death!! So we humans should do the thinking for them and ensure they dont have enough chain to jump the fence!!!!

Yeah I though so. First one I saw was called "Warlock" geepers what a beast and ever since then most other Cats look quite dinky.

If we ever meet, must make a note to stay on Colapops good side.
