I'd rather go for the Duke... and that's saying a lot since I'm not generally a v-twin man (unless it's 2-stroke of course), lol....

Yeah I liken it. To be honest, never been a fan of full fared bikes, but they are growing on me, after joining this place. Have not even riden something along these lines... I remember going into a store many moons ago and asking to take a Busa for a spin... I was about 26, and the guy looked at me, and said... I dont think so... I had just gotten me full license, so I went to another shop and bought a bike from them a few days later... well that was a bit off topic?? lol:Punk:

Not much new there... could have at least made a Ten Kate replica instead of pushing the same crap out so soon. Still has the best looking swingarm of the litre bikes. The other mobs could learn a lot from Honda about yummy looking mass manufactured parts.

I like it. I like the silver frame and white highlights, and the blue's a bit different for them too. Be interesting to see how the 2007 season goes overall actually. Begins Feb 27th. :niceone:

Caution- never accept an invite to Dover's for pancakes.

Have heard that the 07 is a heap better than the old model 04/06's Eg more power etc because they needed to do something about that bottom end or total lack of it !! Never have I ridden a more Guttless 1000cc Jap bike in 20 years than my a friends 04 CBR1000RR in my Life ! Afew guys that ride here on the Pie / Pints have the 07's now & are keen to get me to set them up for them so will post a review once I have tryed the New 07's . Till then will just hope for great things from them .

Yes it is. The lower picture has more engine on show where the lower fairing wraps around the motor - that's the 2007 model. The 2004/06 model had the fairing covering most of the motor.

Pretty sure your right Darkman, my pics show a black swingarm for 2006.

Word on the street (on the 06/07 vs the 04/05) is all they did was lower the gearing and then increase the redline to bring the top speed back up. No real major engine changes apart from that. Didn't it also lose a whole ton of weight? Maybe that'd be the reason for the better performance. Most of the late model 1000cc 4s have sacrificed bottom end for more up top.

Looks like the Repsol Rep gets the alloy swing arm and grey frame for 2007

Check out the UK Honda site (http://www.honda.co.uk/motorcycles/DispatcherServlet?hidAction=Lookup&hidActionDetail=view_gallery&hidMSGID=8&hidMSGCode=SUPERSPORTS&hidMSGName=Supersports&hidProductID=68&hidSelectedProductCode=CBR1000RR+Fireblade&hidProductName=CBR1000RR+Fireblade#focusHere)

... all the models have black frame and swing arm aprt from the Repsol replica

I rode the 2004 and bought an R1 instead.... I bought a 2007 a few weeks ago and the engine definately have more power than my 04 R1 under 7000rpm so I would say it is a better engine.... and I dont think its down to gearing... Its a brilliant engine for low down power... I'm working my way up to the top end whilst running it in... So far I'm really impressed with the engine. Great for the road.... cant wait to try the track.

Yes but the 04-06 R1 has the weakest low end of all the litre bikes. Have you seen a comparitive dyno for the 04 vs the 06 CBR engine? Lower gearing and less weight can feel like more power on a seat of the pants dyno. I'm not doubting you I'm just curious.

Kyle
11th February 2007, 08:04
From what i have seen, yeah the other 07 models have a black swing arm, but the nose cone on this repsol looks like the 07 one, so perhaps they get the alloy one, which is smarter if you ask me, the black one will just show up scratches easyer. And the 06 repsol did have blue, but i think that picture is taken in a highly lighted studio which brings out the pearls more than average. But regardless, its still sexy, and useable. Not everyone wants the back wheel to light up at quarter throttle when its wet. I`ll take two thanks, one to race and one to put in my bedroom for those long lonely nights. :innocent:

may be didnt word that right... In 2004 I tested an 04 CBR .v. a 04 R1. The R1 felt better, I liked the handling and it looked great so I bought the R1.

The 2007 CBR is definately a better engine than that 04 R1... It could be a gearing thing but under 8000rpm there's tons of power whereas the R1 had less (still good though)

So far I'm really impressed with the 07 CBR... for the road it has great power , you never seem to be in the wrong gear, and I've really not started to explore its full potential.

They still feel slow, if you've ridden any of the other litre bikes.

That's typical Honda for you. Neutral performance. The figures show it's a damned competitive bike. Maybe other litre machines are less 'refined'...

I know what you're saying though, it's the same with the mighty Biffbird, it's deceptively fast without the involvement associated with riding the Zuki, Yam and Kwaka jobbies. Although IMO the Kwaka (ZX10) is overly 'involving'.

Whatever floats your boat I spose.
