VasalineWarrior

I heard a rumour that there might be a trackday day in march run my the Manawatu M.C. Could someone please tell me if:

a) Ive been smoking too many drugs and the voices told me this

b) There is a trackday but its not in march, and I should lay off the drugs for a bit as it seems to be screwing with my ears

c) There is a trackday, and there is no need need to alter any of my personal habits beacuse Im hearing things just fine (In which case I shall celebrate with a beer because I really like track days)

d) Other

a friend of mine is racing a buell at manfield in early march [the first saturday i think] but i dont know much else about it.
im going, purely to watch him race and see how the bike will peform. he started it up for me the other week...sounds sweet and looks even better. reckons shes a fireball when moving...wheel standing in first and 3rd, lol. scary shit, but should be fun to watch.
im expecting him to be dumped at the starting line, and the bike to race alone. lmfaop

As for photographs, I'll get Bex to snap me on a corner...I'll stop, put the sidestand down, hang off as if I'm gunning it, get her to capture the moment, then photoshop out the sidestand and add a bit of motion blurr! Result.

It's not a race gurl. If you're coming up for the day, pay the $40, get your bike scruitineered and go out and have a pootle around. You can learn more at 80kmh than you can at 150 if you're looking for it

Ohhh and its the martinborough fair this Saturday, so anyone coming over this way, just be-aware of crazy cage drivers, esp on the hill.

And an extra note, the Flying Fish (which is now called something else) I heard is knocking down the wall of the shop next to it, so its going to be bigger.... and more seating.

Went to Manf yesterday via the rapa, managed 200kms in 2 hours which was good ...Pahiatua track and Ashurst route would be a good 'warm up' for the track.

Good to see the cafe formerly known as the Fish getting a spruce up :niceone:

I'm not sure which way we are going, just going to follow the boys.
If I dont manage to lose them and myself, I should make it with heaps of time (seeing as they want to leave at the crack of dawn).

Yep - wife and daughter are doing the kapiti womens triathlon that morning, and the woman hitler can't babysit the other 2 kids, so I have to... unless I can bribe someone else. (Not all hope is lost yet...)

Q: If I was to arrive at Manfeild at about lunchtime, would I be able to ride in the arvo? Or can you only ride if you're at scrutineering at 9am (or whenever it is)?

You're a pussy ;). It only took me 2hours the other day (192km), and is a much better trip (Pahiatua Track, through Ashurst and through to Cheltnam-ish). At least come home that way, its far less frustrating than the coastal route.

WANTED: Attractive young female to work as pit bitch. Must look great in tight lycra and be handy with an umbrella. Duties include: standing around and looking good...

He's not too bad, better looking than me anyway AND he's dropping his gf off at her mates place in palmy!

Cool, Im thinking leave the bottom of Haywards at 6:40

Also he will be bringing his work van (but might take the car), not sure if he will empty it out first (did think of putting the bike in to take it up) but seems as he's a sparky plenty of screwdrivers knives and electrical tape for everybody! (also going to be a good place to chuck backpacks and the like!)

Sweet might meet you there. Hoping there was a car there. means i can take heaps of shit!!

does anyone know who had the purple and black ducati there? cos the fucker nearly rear ended me coming into turakina on the way home. 70k signs, i put the brakes on and slow up...doing about 75k.
slow down gradually till im doing bang on 70. car pulls out from the servo without looking, so im on the brakes again, slowin to around 50-60k to avoid going up the vans ass.
tosser with duc gets right up my exhaust before overtaking on a blind corner, with no where to go due to how small the gap was between me and the van. there were two on coming cars.

the duc was on a tray of a black ford falcon ute... to the driver: pity your such a tosser of a driver, cos i like the look of the bike. turakina is and always has been a 70k zone, and inspecting my exhaust will NOT make me speed up.

other than him and one other tail gater [also in a 70k zone, on the other side of manfield] it was a good day. my backs as red as a beet, and im looking forward to next year.

Yeah great day. Thanks for the company there and back Jimbo, bloody good idea having that beer near home.
I'm more than pleased with how the F800 performed. Those Conti Sport attacks did the job well too. Brakes were excellent blah blah, wheels went round and round blah blah and all that good stuff
Flame dragged me off in the sprints - go girl.

What dick head build that tyre wall cicane as you enter the pits! %$#@* Almost ruined my bril day plowing into them as I ended my last session for the day. Forgot the thing was there until too late. I guess I proved that it makes you slow down one way or the other. Atleast you bouce off them which must be better than hitting the road. It'll take more than a stack of Goodyears to bend a BMW.

Beemer

Thankfully someone pointed out the forgotton camera and it's being reunited with its owner later this week. If it had been a 5D it may have been a different story! We also had a set of keys handed in but the owner noticed them pretty promptly.

Glad you guys enjoyed yourselves and nice to see only one crash - would have been better to end the day without any, but at least the ambulance wasn't required.

And good on Angie (who may or may not be a KB member) on the GPX250 (I think) for getting out there and having a go. She was a bit nervous but looked pretty good in a couple of shots I got of her. I saw her riding slowly around the pits and she was very good at the slow stuff, so I think she just needs to get a bit of confidence.

My day ended early. I was keen as to get the 9 out on the track. Thought I would take it real easy in the slow group to start with to get a feel for the bike. Bike is so easy to ride I felt like I was crawling in the slow group so upgrade was in order. Unfortunately the muffler bracket that stopped me going on the ride for life broke AGAIN and that was my day done. Stayed to watch the big boys show how its done on one wheel. Awesome stuff MD and Fizzerman. Headed for home after that.

Surprised and shocked to hear Sallo binned. Hope you are ok. When you offered me your bike after mine was a no go I didn't want to ride it because I just dont like riding other peoples bikes. If I knew you were going to throw it down the track anyway...................

Yes, you're very lucky that someone told me a camera bag had been left behind in one of the pit bays. Bet it wouldn't have been there tomorrow. My first time on the track. So. Freaking. Awesome!!
I want a race bike now...
Had heaps of fun in the medium group all day, but best was the last medium session in which me & my mate on an R1 were battling hard at the front (apparently I managed to cut a 1:25 on the session, my mate getting a 1:22. Rapt!).

Whens the next one??

I only took a few photos - I did it for a living for years so tend to be farking lazy when it comes to track days unless someone is paying me! I did get some shots of Angie (if anyone knows her - she has my card but I don't have her contact details) and I have some shots of unknown riders.

If anyone wants them, send me a PM as I have them saved in high res (about 4MB per photo). The shot of the guy on the GS is one of our club members.

Was my first ever track day and it went really well!

I was the tassled tit on the VFR in the slow group that got in everyone's way. And it's taken me more courage than a sidecar monkey needs to admit that online so please don't hold it against me. Quasi is helping me out there though, thank goodness. :)

Anyway, was shocked to hear about Sallo's off but glad to see she was relatively OK. Bike looked a mess, but the photographer got an awesome photo of her and the bike sliding off the track.

And being a blundering fool I apologise if I held you up out there.

does anyone know who had the purple and black ducati there? cos the fucker nearly rear ended me coming into turakina on the way home.

If this was Saturday and not Sunday, it would have been the Mother's Motorcycle Club track day, nothing to do with our track day.

I work with Ange and she isn't a KBer 'yet'. I only talked her into getting a bike a couple of months ago. Passed her learners 6 weeks ago. You should have seen her face today when she came into work. Grin was from ear to ear.
She has spent quite a bit of time as a pillion on a rocket ship but was a little nervous about taking over the controls. Now she is loving it and had an awesome day yesterday. Shame I wasn't there to see it. I know she is very proud of how small the chicken strips are on her tyres.

If you have shots of her can you pm me so I can give you an email address. She is trying to get a hold of any shots that have her in them.

well another goal has been reached ..

after attending track days & watching everyone else have fun .. all i wanted was a bike to go out there & give it a go ...

ever since I got RZ that has been my main goal .. getting her legal & getting myself as legal as i can so that i could attend

As the day got closer the excitement & nervous anticipation was taking a toll. Bearing in mind I have had a total of 5 road rides on this bike .. so yesterday was my sixth .. After not sleeping much on sat nite I was up early to take care of animals before heading to manfield.

Now a choice I had made was to trailer my bike up there, & so glad I did. Figured that the day would be pretty draining & if I rode home may have been tempted to be a bit more complacent & an accident could be on the cards. Not mentioning the fact I could take chilly bins, chairs etc so was more comfy up there. Talked U4ea into taking part & she was great company on the way up, esp when ppl passed us with bikes on back but two chicks in the truck .. looks were priceless. Thanks to Dogsnbikes for the loan of the trailer .. its an awesum trailer for bikes ;)

Guess those who know me well could tell that I was not my usual social self, retreated a few times (being tired & nervous) just to think about what my goals for the day were.

a) to have fun
b) to learn how to corner
c) to feel my bike more
d) to play with the powerband
e) to have fun
f) to push myself to my boundaries (not past them .. but to them)
g) to look through corners
h) did I mention to have fun ?

did I reach my goals .. ??

well i sure had fun .. that goes beyond saying, after coming off the first session I dunno that i was smiling but i sure was inside.

Learning to corner, My Mentor pointed out that i was to far on the inside & the ins & outs of the consequences of that, he showed me some lines then followed during the day after that I could follow the stream & got more speed & a wee bit more lean as the day went on.

Feeling my bike .. damn straight I felt her all day long & she did not mind .. ohh we not talking like that.... umm yes I felt when i did not have the revs right & put her into top without having enough revs & that horrible engine noise coming into play, also came in a bit hot to one corner, grabbed a heap of brake went to down shift but downshifted to many gears .. umm that was interesting .. but flicked it up another gear for the corner & it was all good. This bike feels incredibly stable & I absolutely  riding her

playing with the powerband .. this wee bike has awesome pick up after the corners, had someone on a RD comment how he could not catch me .. Mind you he was gutted cause he thought the RZ was only a 250 .. think he felt better when he realised it was actually a 350... :innocent:

taking the riding to my limits .. I recognised when I was tiring & stopped pushing the try, but it was interesting as the faster riders caught me on the last lap how i instinctively wanted to speed up to keep up with them .. but i had nuffing to prove to anyone else so tapped that feeling down. I trusted the information ppl esp those experienced riders have been telling me & trusted the bike to try & increase speeds through corners etc which is easier to do on the track than the road .. awesome

looking through the corners .. this is something that I was teaching Clive on saturday with the horses & how this works .. can honestly say it works on the bikes ... by taking a long focus to where you want to go you naturally distribute weight to push the horse/bike into the direction you want to go .. (attending the track day with shaun harris when he took the walk around the track explaining how he rides the track is where this insight has come from & I can understand his concepts as they relate to how I ride my horses)

Its taken me a day to assimilate how it all went yesterday & I am so thrilled to reach another goal. Thanks to everyone who assisted with getting me out there & the supportive comments through the day. Its hard to take it all in at times, & then I dunna do well with compliments .. so thank you I really do appreciate it (even if i seem embarrassed)

Nigel, give it a rest, I thought you had moved on, I know I have. I tried apologising to you via PMs but even the moderators felt your responses were over the top.

I have you and your friends on my ignore list but even when I removed your name from the list there was no PM from you - maybe you meant to thank me for finding your camera - or maybe you didn't. I don't really give a damn one way or the other.

As for my signature, if you truly believe that I would use that as a dig at someone who had an accident, then you really need help. Pretty sure that was "urbanmagpie" taking shots at the corner of sweeper onto front straight (in the afternoon sessions). Has anyone else ordered photos from "urbanmagpie"? I got some photos off them from the February trackday and Gunner got a couple of A4's off them on Sunday (really neat that they were able to download and print on the spot - cost us $5 for 6x4 and $25 for A4). We are impressed with their work and appreciate the service that they offer - I think we should all support them if possible. I suspect they will have lots more photos than are currently in their gallery: http://www.urbanmagpie.co.nz/gallery/catid,10/ at the moment so I suggest you email them a description of whoever the rider/bike was and ask if they can find them.

Just to make this quite clear in case anyone gets the wrong idea......... what we are talking about here is a tyre "foot" pump with a gauge on it. I got it from Repco (sorry can't remember the brand but is made in England) and it was around $60 - well worth the money because I have found the gauge to be pretty accurate (the ones you get on the cheap models are a waste of space).
