Since the TL is down for repairs I thought I’d get my act together and complete some of the projects I had lined up. One of the projects was a 520 conversion for the driveline. I went with a STEALTH rear sprocket with 40 teeth (+2). The STEALTH sprocket uses an aluminum carrier with steel teeth, so you get the some of the weight reduction associated with and aluminum carrier but with out the loss of strength in the teeth. I kept the front sprocket at the original 17 teeth.

Here’s a comparison of the front sprocket…

The new rear sprocket and the OEM…

The chain…

Before I actually put the chain on I need to complete my swingarm project which should be done very soon.

What are the weight savings? You reckon they stack up against the loss of strength?Be interesting to see how long the 520 lasts on the TL....

Weight savings is ~2kg. The RK chain is rated for a 1000cc bike and as you can see from the pic the size of the links (thickness) and rollers aren't far from stock.

Once I get this thing back on the road I'll be more than happy to report any short comings of the 520 setup (this particular one) on the TL.
