Bandit 250 wheel position

Hey Guys,

Just purchased a bandit 250 that had been in a head on. Frame and forks were replaced (not by me). I have the bike to near original condition but the wheel is off compared to the handlebars. Ive read up about it and apparently it just needs to have the triple clamps loosended and the forks twisted back around. I tried that tonight but all it did was twist the fork tube without moving the wheel back to its proper place. Is there any advice anyone could give me? I live in wellington, could someone come and take a look at it? Id be happy to pay for it..

Don't just rotate each fork tube individually, that won't help at all. What you need to do, is jam the front wheel somewhere hard, like between some bricks so it can't move. Then, with the triple clamp backed off, twist the handlebars with all you might and the forks should unwrap. If not, maybe your bars are bent as well if they weren't replaced?

I did it by loosening everything and then having a mate try and hold the wheel the best he could while I pulled at the handlebars. The wheel moved, but then went back to its original position. It seems like something is seized? Are the forks supposed to move? Or is it the middle bar? : | Sorry if I'm confusing, i dont know the proper names for anything! The forks have definitely been replaced with straight ones, the old ones were snapped! Perhaps the bottom clamp might be bent?

Would be a good idea, ask them to check if the frame is true, if the repair wasn't done by someone who really knows what they were doing, no amount of adjusting will set the front up properly again.:scooter:

how do you know the frame is not bent? i wouldnt think it was a new one, would have been too expensive.
they may have used one that looks fine bit may be out a bit in the steering tube (pushed to one side)
no matter what you do the handle bars will look down on one side. check the bars are not bent also! you can get a new ones for like 40 bucks. is this a gja77 frame or the older one with the clip on handle bars rather than the one piece bar?

I'm in the same boat as Andrew kinda (same name aswell lol). My forks have been replaced and seem out of line.

Apparently all I needed to do was adjust the triple claps. The fittings were seized is all. So i un seized it and all came right!
