Custom made earplugs!! Stop the wind noise!!!! I have worn my custom earplugs under a welding helmet for 18 years and six years under my riding helmet. Wouldn't be without them. Can still hear the bike (and any sirens trying to sneak up!!) The best investment for the best rides:)

Too lazy to find it on the website, how much for the wired ones to plug into ipod?
Will you have a stall at Paeroa?

... have edited the message, but having a hell of a job finding out where to change the 'thread' title. We have had so many enquiries for the custom made plugs, following the classic bike fest at Pukekohe and have only just heard we can trade at Paeroa. Someone suggested I 'get the word out' through your valuable website. My sincerest apologies, Sue

If you have no sucess there, try http://www.elacin.co.nz/. I have a set, wonderful things they are!

Sue, passing on offers/info is part of what KB is about (there's even a forum for it), but PM spam is probably not appreciated by many...

Cool!! Thank you for that. Can you explain 'PM spam'? I've been fossiking around in here and am still learning the ropes. I have been in touch with Elacin myself and have been told there's a few weeks wait as he sends them overseas. We make them on the spot, walk away with them in your ears after 30-40 minutes. The best value at the Classics last weekend. I must have been the only one without my fingers in my ears at the starting grid, to begin with...... then people caught on..........

Weeeeel, if I've got the wrong end of the tree and you only sent little old me a Private Message advertising your product (for some reason.....?) then I apologise as I have no point.

If, however you sent out a bunch of PM's to people advertising the plugz then I'm in a friendly way pointing out that there are those less tolerant than me who will flame the hell out of you on the site for doing so.

Perhaps a better approach would be to post (or ask a mod to move this thread) into the buy/sell forum, to not send advertising via PM (as above, if this is what you did) and to not have a weird poll on your thread (which is probably as you say, just a case of being unfamiliar with the site)

nah allun, I'm speshal too

OK, but I am interested. Just how good are yours? Wind noise only? Just how many decibels do the plugs stop, as I have the alpine plugs, with yellow inserts. Some complain of them being too good, and use the normal green inserts. I want better than yellow...

I hope you're a pillion. If not,why are you listening to a friggen ipod while you ride?Your bike/riding to boring to keep you interested?

New York City is looking at banning ipod use by pedestrians because too many of the fuckwits are walking into traffic and getting mashed.

For someone "learning the ropes" you sure mastered setting up a poll as a goods peddling device quite well...

hmm, a ride with no wind noise? ..wouldnt that be a car? For me i like the noise, never seen the point of ear plugs on a bike.
Dumb poll, but clever way to get on the main page. I reackon there is going to be an advertizing revolution one day. The people will raise up and tear down all the bill boards, turn off the tv during the ads, and sue the arse that keeps putting junk mail in their letter box`s. Or maybe thats just wishfull thinking. of advertizing

One day you will learn the meaning of the word tinitus, but then it will be too late.

If you live long enough you may even learn how to pronounce "tinitus"

wind/engine/exhaust noise isnt that loud. Though i must admit my new shoei is far quieter than my old cheaper helmets were. I could understand wearing plugs while watching racing, that can be pretty ear-busting loud sometimes. But you got to love the way those big drag cars shake the senses when they launch.

All the info on mine is here:

They are excellent IMHO. I speak from years of experience wearing various plugs in a band, and more recently on bikes.

Yes, they take a couple of weeks because they get sent overseas (more in fo on the site) but the price is competitive, the quality is excellent, and they're guaranteed and all that.

Yeah...... 15 mins at motorway speed will start to damage yer hearing.
Admittedly, a good helmet cuts the noise, but it just means that you might have say an hour of travelling before you start damaging your hearing.

I plan to be able to hear my grandkids making fun of 'ol grandad, thus i wear plugs when drumming or biking. :Punk:

But it is the individual's choice!

Some people object to commercial businesses masquerading as normal people trying to flog their wares on this site. If you are a legitimate commercial operator, send a personal message to Spankme and he will set you up with the appropriate member account.

Stop the noise!! Have a quiet ride, yet still hear your motor. See you at Paeroa for earplugs, made on the spot, to fit your ears only. The best $65 you can spend to compliment your gear. Or for $210 we can fit wires to go into your ipod, mp3, etc. Sue

I have problems with outer ear infection (read: gets very very easily infected) and excess ear wax. will these be suitable?

Just in case you're wondering, yes I am serious.

I've found that a lot of commonly available ear plugs are unsuitable because of the problems and they never seem to fit my ear well...

$65 - are you serious? the last time I was thinking about custom ear plugs they were near 200 bucks...

Reusable, custom-made ear plugs(made from medical silicone for your ears only).
Made on the spot, comfortable and retain their shape, use for pleasure or work - suitable for industrial workshops, under welding and bike helmets, shift workers, swimmers, surfers and partners of snorers!!! $65 per pair.

OR for $220 we can provide custom-made earplugs with fitted wires, which sit easily under any helmet and plug into your radio/walkman/MP3 providing unbelievable clarity. Strong wires with built-in coiled tubing to prevent the plugs becoming dislodged.
OR $45 will have you fitted for a single plug for your handsfree, cell phone kit.

We'll be at Paeroa Battle of the Streets, Feb 18th, Manfield Race Track Feb 24th, Pukekohe Race Track Mar 10th and Featherston March 17th.

Tinitus isn't fun. The wind noise on a motorcycle can easily cause permanent damage. Ear-plugs just take the noise down to safe levels. You still hear the bike. In fact, I'd say you hear the bike more because they seem to take the edge of the wind noise.

I bought a box of 200 pairs of orange ear plugs for about um....50 bucks 3 years ago and am just getting to the last dozen. You're not meant to reuse them but I clean mine in antiseptic solution. But a pair of each type of cheapo and find a type you like.

RIDE magazine did tests a few years back and concluded the custom made ear plugs weren't significantly better in terms of noise reduction than the cheapo ones.
