ok, it looks like cracking paint or sealant or something, but if any mechananics could look at the pic below and tell me if I should head back to the dealer I bought it from demanding answers......cheers

Seriously, if what I've just looked at is what you're talking about then I believe it's just normal for cast alloy.

Nothing really to worry about it is fairly typical of pressure die cast alloy, what you are seeing is the lines where the molten metal met in the die. The front edge of the metal as it flows into the die cools faster than the rest so you get this pattern visible on the surface.
