Amazing watching the way it accelerates from 200 to 300km/h, and then pushes on to 407km/h. Yeah it's expensive, yeah it's impractical, yeah it's cage, yadda yadda yadda, it's still an amazing feat of engineering. Apparently when searching for the extra top speed they took the wing mirrors off, and got the extra speed they were looking for. However, without the wing mirrors the car would lose too much downforce and become undriveable. How's that, at that speed your wing mirrors are helping to keep you on terra firma.

LOL, I was just about to add it's probably not dial-up friendly, but upon consideration it's probably not NZ Broadband friendly either! About 7mins long but worth the short wait if your connection isn't the best.

do ya think they choose "Captain Slow" to do it, to prove a point?

I like the bit about how it takes 300bhp to hit 150mph, and the other 700+bhp, (apparently at sea level the Veyron makes ~1080bhp), to get up to 250mph!

also the fact at top speed Veyron can drain 100L fuel tank in 12mins - almost as quick as a vtr1000!

Whether limited or not, it's still how it rolled off the factory floor with factory warranty. You wouldn't expect a Toyota Corolla to make such headlines would you? At the end of the day, it's a fucking quick vehicle, no two-ways about it.

The bike would need to be pretty aerodynamic all over, not just between rider and bike.

I love the way those buggers can still crack jokes and recall stats when theyre screaming along in someone elses horrendously expensive motor-car. The other funny thing was seeing banner-ads on the side of the website hosting that video reading stuff like "Save money on a Veyron" etc... yeah, like there's a discount market for Buggatis

Parmigiani Bugatti Type 370 (www.parmigiani.com)
Michel Parmigiani's Type 370 has been in development as long as the 1000-hp Bugatti Veyron that it's supposed to complement. But while the Veyron is still mired in high-speed testing,
the Bugatti watch is now on sale -- for a price almost as outrageous as the million-Euro supercar. For the privilege of strapping one of Parmigiani's 150 Type 370s to your wrist, you'll pay upwards of $200,000. What, exactly, do you get for that? In rational terms, not much. You get a $200,000 watch that you have to wind yourself and that only tells the time. But what's special about the Parmigiani Bugatti piece is that its hand-wound mechanical movement is a complete reimagination of anything before seen in watchmaking.

Most watches feature a face that sits at on your wrist, which is all well and good for normal use, but which means you have to take your hand off the wheel while driving to read the time. So Parmigiani decided on a vertically-oriented face which necessitated a completely new mechanism that's more reminiscent of an automobile engine than any traditional watch movement.

Visible through the eight-piece gold case's six sapphire crystals, the 370's movement allows you to see exactly what's going on, with all of its various pieces in all their gorgeousness laid bare for inspection. Also visible through the top is the 10-day power reserve indicator, telling you how long the watch still has to run before you have to charge it again.

Like everything else about the watch, winding it is something special, and isn't done with a simple crown on the side. Instead, a battery-powered metal pen is inserted into the bottom, which takes care of both winding and time-setting duties.

The first Bugatti watch was delivered to noted car fanatic Ralph Lauren earlier this year. Fifty each will be available in each of three colours.

I went to the first public release of the Bugati a few years back, but they ran into production issues after this. 1001 BHP and shit it sounds fine but boy is it ugly. They more interesting cars where the old Bucati's.

He's right you know. About 1.28 million results for Rock, 1.38 million for Tom, making him officially gay.

later maclarens did over 420, koenigseggsegegegegegegege, saleen, sledgehammer, lingenfelter, etc... dunno if all of them can be considered 'production eg saleen/lingenfelter vettes etc' but they go a tad faster than 407kmh/250mph. they also mention a lambo diablo vttt, never heard of it but it did 255 apparently. old link though.

as for really modified and only semi-production, those cars are american as well. the 900 horse callaway sledgehammer corvette drivnen by john lingenfelter whipped at 254.76 mph, setting the official street legal record.

and for a fraction of the cost a 500hp busa will do it in 9.1 seconds. i love seeing the look on my car buddies faces when they start quoting all these 1000hp poopras and 'zillas when i tell them that...

then you get proper drag cars doing it in like... no time. >_<

Not heard or read of any production McLaren car breaking 400km/h before, not to say it didn't happen though. And the others are heavily modified production cars. I'm pretty sure Top Gear have referred to it being the fastest production car, and they've driven most.
