BEARS racing on at Ruapauna in a couple of weeks.
Will I be welcomed with open arms if I turn up on my Honda or will I be tarred and feathered and then set on fire as the lunchtime entertainment?
Or in other words ... will I be as welcome as a fart in a space suit if I turn up to a 'non-jappa' event on my Honda? Don't want to race ... just watch.

Not allowed to race a jappa but no one will care too hoots if you ride in on one.
Good couple of days racing. Get out there and give some support.

One of the best race meetings on the calendar and well worth going to

I've been reliably informed that the only way to avoid being tarred and feathered is to wear lots of lycra and carry a handbag. Colour optional, but as long as you're asking for advice, mauve would probably be a wise choice. Send me a PM if you need help with selecting the right shoes.:innocent:

Hey thanks for that. I'll just raid Mrs Oakie's wardrobe for suitable gear then. Perhaps something silky and slinky?

 You keep talking like that I might have to come down. Shall we enter the Aprilia? Might have just enough time to get it painted hot pink.

Is there a gate charge for turning up and being a spectator?

Yeah I'm sure I saw that on the advert. $10 or $15 I think.

That sucks. I thought the BEARS was just the locals having fun and therefore isn't like the Nationals which were on the other day and understandably would have a gate fee because it's on TV. (Haven't seen the advert myself)
Is it free entry for pit crew? I can bring my spanner along :innocent:

Do they ever bring BEARS racing to Manfield?
I remember watching it many moons ago when I lived in ChCh and loved it.

No, you won't be welcomed but quietly ignored. The boys will be too busy but when they see an in-line 4 Honda they will possibly be reminded of the era of the dawn of the superbike (cliche alert). That is if they were even born then.
Hondas' racing heritage is as good if not better that any of the BEARS manufacturers.
Would they recognise the 250 cc 6 cylinder RC166 if it whipped past them on the straight pulling 10,000 RPM?

I might see you out there.....Cheers

Not so many years ago the "Sound of Thunder" was the biggest motorcycle meeting in Australasia, it's a bit more than locals having fun but it is well worth going to
(cept I fucking cant cause I'll be doing the Nationals at Manfield:angry: )
