Today my workmate (who does the exact same job i do) brought his brand new Powerball to work (we were already familiar with them as another workmate has one), after only using it for a bit I quickly realised it would help with the pains I was experiencing in my hands wrist and arm while working.
So picked one up after work from Hangdog :D (and met the currently ranked 4th in NZ working there!)
Many people on here have suggested these Powerballs to people who get sore wrists when they first start out riding, I always figured "yea right, not for that price" but I have to admit - they are 100% right, it will help alot!
Will do an update after I have been using it for a week or so including any effects on my riding

Dude, its not about the RPM.
To get the proper benefit, you need to go for endurance.
My physio recommended I get one when I bust my scaphoid. It's done wonders for my wrists.
Thoroughly recommended, but getting a high rpm is only going to help you wank faster.
Here's where you can get them (http://www.actionball.co.nz/).

well i've been using it almost non stop since i got home, the reason I payed more for the rev counter version is because of my competitave nature - it will hold my attention alot more
more accurately, there is a list of SHOPS that stock them, so no buying on line with credit card; http://www.actionball.co.nz/stockists.html
oh yea, back to the endurance thing; can i hurt myself by going too hard for too long?

Thanks Wasp, looks quite good. Might have to look at getting one of those when I'm back in New Zealand, help strengthen the old wrists up. They've never been very good, but I never get around to doing the exercises I'm supposed to. This little invention would make it easy.

these things look pretty cool, seen them on trademe before but never got round to checking them out properly.
Warning to all - the ones on trademe are over priced compared to that website.
Might go play with one at lunch time in the shop.

I must confess I'd never seen or heard of them before but they look pretty good. I've had trouble with my wrists on and off since I became a journalist and like Deviant Esq I never remember to do the exercises the physio gives me - actually, to be truthful - I can't be arsed!
I might check one out - which ones are the best?

I have had a version of one of these for years now (gyroball)
I smashed my right wrist to pieces at manfeild & the surgeon said I would never get full use back, well We showed him!!
He was so impressed with amount of movement I got back he wanted to know how & when I showed him the Gyro ball,he wanted to show his staff
Needless to say they are fantastic, mine is abit clagged out now & is had to start off, should get a new one

well, this morning the workmate (who just bought his a few days ago) beat my score of 10,432 with about 10,700ish. then at the start of lunch one of the developers beat the 10,700ish score with 11,100ish. I quickly countered with an amazing (to me):
12,395 RPM
oooh, just checked - if i submit the score to the kiwi scoreboard this would put me #16th :D

My mate's got one of them. It's a pretty funny feeling having this little ball trying to rip your arm off once you get it spinning at a good rate. I'm sure they started off as a glorified wanking aid tho!

Does it Vibrate????????
Wasp
13th February 2007, 22:28
at 15,000 RPM it weighs about 18kgs (according to the website) BUT its trying to rip it self out of your hand
yes it vibrates, very violently
dont think i explained but basically its a gyroscope that when you spin it up as it gets faster it puts more force on you and gets harder to hold and spin

Mine is sealed together & has actually worn the race away,so might be more than a clean

Sealed or screwed?
If it's a proper "PowerBall" they need to be put in a vise to open them.

#9 in NZ :Punk:
The batteries last well in the Powerballs.
I did that one in Feb 2005 :innocent:
Maybe the batteries die quicker if you actually use it
A couple of 11500's today.
Cheaper training for the Dusty Butt 1000 than actually riding.

Nah you can stand on it to open them, instructions on the american site
Though the races do get worn if it gets abused by allowing to vibrate by holding loosely in your hand! As mine is no where near as smooth as it used to be!
Want a metal one but cant justify the price at present!
EDIT and 14th ! Havent been to that site in a while and the leader board has gone from like 5 people up a few!
