Not seeing oil in oil viewer

Hey Guys,

I changed the oil on my bandit 250 the other day. I emptied out the oil and put in exactly 2700ml, as it says on the engine. When i get the bike on a flat surface I cant see any oil in the viewer.. Is there anything I'm missing? I put in a new filter also.

And yes, I did put the sump plug back in.. :innocent:

Try carefully leaning the bike over from side to side very slowly, watching the sight glass as you do so. If it is over or under filled, leaning over will confirm either way. I seized an old Suzi 1100 once coz I assumed it was slightly over filled... it was in fact way under filled :bye:

Maybe the oil is so clean you can't see it. Thank me later.

When changing the filter you need to put in more oil than is written on the crankcase. Some Bandit aficionado will put you straight on the exact amount you were short.

I see.. I've got 300mls of semi-synth left over. Could anyone let me know how much more oil I need to put in? : ) That motul oil is really thick and smelly.. must be good.. : )

I just bought the bandit as a project, sitting outside for years. Got it to the point of it being the most polished bike out there.. :) changed the sparkies, they were so corroded im sure there wasnt any metal left in em..

300 mls left of what? I know when I changed the oil in my bike I was worried becuase when the bike was running the oil dissapared, then (to my relief) I found out that was normal!

300mls of cooking oil... Thats what you put in engines right? :gob:

I meant 300mls of semi-synthetic motul left, just in case it does need a topup. I might add another 200ml and see what the results are. The bandit has nowhere near as big a sump as the GSX 250. And that displays the oil levels spot on..

i think its an extra 100mls? (0.1 L anyway) for a filter.

you can see the oil in mine, but its sort of over filled

been many a time i havnt been able to see the oil in my window (hence the over fill)

I assume it wasn't running when you checked the level.... dude, did you check the manual (if you have one) as well as what it says on the bike to confirm the amount required?

Change 2,700 ml
Filter change 3,000 ml
Overhaul 3,400 ml
